- mzzyap3,418 contributionsWe almost had the place all to ourselvesThere are 120 churches in Krakow, so most tourists visit the churches within the Old Town. Corpus Christi Church is located in the Jewish Quarter, southeast of the Old Town. We made it a point to search for this church and we're glad we did.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 12, 2024

The architecture , sculptures, artwork , amazing stained glass windows, etc ,you can do no more than gaze on awe. I highly recommend you visit if in the area. The interior is a mixture of Polish Gothic and Polish Baroque styles. There is an impressive Baroque main altar and choir stalls with pictures from the life of St. Augustine and local canons, and a wooden pulpit in the shape of a boat supported by two mermaids.Visited July 2024Traveled soloWritten July 12, 2024

The Corpus Christi church in the Kazimierz district is originally a Gothic church dating back from the 14th century. It was part of a monastery, and there is a nice garden around it, and it is walled off from the street.
The interior has had a massive makeover in the 18th century giving it a heavy Baroque appearance with lots of heavy dark furnishing and gold galore. The choir stalls are however very impressive although they make the place seem quite dark.
The organs are newer and the biggest of the city; and there are some very well preserved and beautiful stained glass windows as well.
The exterior surroundings allow for a nice little green break in the city.

Absolutely stunning! The most beautiful church we have ever been in! We didn't actually go inside the first couple of days as it doesn't look like you should enter, but we were taken in by a local, so returned the next day too. It's free, obviously no talking, no flash and no phones, but people were taking pictures and respecting people praying.
Definitely worth a visit whilst you're down in the Jewish Quarter.

This church situated in the Jewish quarter, is just gorgeous. I have not seen all the church's and cathedrals in Krakow (i think there are around 120) but I have seen a few and they are extremely ornate. Black and gold seems to be the theme, but they are all individual and this one really struck a chord, definitely worth a look.

Wow, looks a bit plain from the outside, but just wait until you get inside, amazing! Would not like the decorators job though!

We stumbled across this MAGNIFICENT church after exploring the jewish quarter and it has to be one of the best moments of my life.
I've been to the Vatican and numerous churches I my 36 years but this place is special.
We heard music so went in and was blessed to be part of their mass. It was beautiful to witness absolutely incredible.
I could have stayed all night. I am catholic so biased but my partner is not- even he said it was out of this world.
Go explore and find this place it wont let you down we came back the next day to get some pics.

The church of Corpus Christi in the heart of the Jewish quarter is a place not to be missed and the bonus is that it’s free to get in. The building looms large over the area, inside it is so ornate you will not know where to look first. It’s undergoing some restoration work.
A place to see.

Astonishingly ornate. Wherever the gaze rests in this church you see something crafted with great care and love. Artwork of many kinds makes this a very precious place indeed - paintings, wooden carvings, marble sculptures and much much more.
It is an intriguing blend of light and shade, with dark alcoves and bright, gleaming gold reflecting the weak winter sunshine.
It was markedly colder inside than it had been outside, and our breath condensed before us in clouds as we wandered around.
Lines of patient worshippers waited for confession. This took place not in an enclosed confessional but at a tiny table in full view of everyone, with only the palm of the priest shielding the whispered exchange.
An outstanding place, well worth a visit.
