Located in the middle of the Wolski Forest, this is yet another of Krakow's unique mounds. The Piłsudski Mound (also named "Mound of Independence") is a symbol of Polish struggles for freedom, especially in the last 200 years. Apart from that it is a great viewing platform and lovely way to spend some 4-5 hours out of town. The mound is located close to the City Zoo, my suggestion would be to do both on the same trip. Just take bus 134 from Cracovia stop in the centre, visit the zoo and then follow the trail through the forest to reach the summit of this imposing structure. Than go down from the hill following e.g. the green trail and find the bus 152 taking you back to the city.

Pilsudski's Mound is highest of four Krakow artificial mounds and therefore it offers great view over the city. It is not that much visited by tourists and we met just groups of local people during our visit.

I would recommend taking bus near the mound (but you still have to walk about 2 kilometers). We took bus to station Chelm and then followed the red hiking trail to the mound.

Visiting mound is free (I wouldn't think it can be otherwise until we visited Kosciuszko's Mound).

Afterwards, we followed the green hiking trail to Kosciuszko's Mound (It took us about 90 minutes) which also leads around site "Panienske Skaly". It is also quite close to the zoo, if you don't want to continue to another mound.

I can really recommend hiking this mound for panoramatic view and at Kosciuszko's mound just pay rather for coffee or beer than for entrance fee, because you already saw everything :)

The paths are well maintained in the forest and the view from the top is nice, you can see the city as well as the countryside out past the airport. This is actually the highest point in Krakow. Its a nice walk from one mound to the other, or to Przegorzaly castle or the monastery in Bielany.

When the weather is good (not only decent) the view is truly amazing - you can see not only the center of Krakow but also Tatras mountains. What impressed me mostly was a landing air plain on Balice airport. You can see it approaching the runway - really A M A Z I N G !!

Pilsudski's Mound is one of the man made mounds on the outskirts of Krakow.
The mound is a 20 minute walk from the zoo on tarmac (no traffic) or 10 mins through the forest. Great views back over Krakow and Wawel etc.
We continued on back through the trees to the Przegorzaly Castle about 30 mins. With great views again of Krakow and the Vistula and out towards Tyniec. The yellow trail through the trees is indicated on the trees to Bel veder.
We took a taxi (you could take a bus) to the zoo and then walked. Ending up and the castle for lunch. Well worth taking a map. Then a walk down the hill to a Krakow bound bus.

Worth to visit if you do appreciate calmness, walking and non-mainstream attractions. Prepare yourself for a walking in the forest (appropriate shoes dependently on the weather), but the routs are visible and remarkable. Free entrance, no specific parking area. Ca. 1,5h time needed or more if you want to sit on the top longer. Not overcrowded. No restaurants, no bars, no toilettes there. Just a forest and a monumental arefact of Polish history.

This mound is located in Las Wolski park and it is absolutely amazing. I was there many times, it is a wonderful place to go for a walk. Especially in Autumn is really nice because we can see the leaves changing color and falling off trees. Really recommend a visit.

You can see Tatra Mountains if the weather is good, it's a nice area for a walk. You can go from there to the zoo, and just under the Mound there are benches to sit and relax.

What resembles a hill is in fact a huge artificial mount inside a forest near ZOO. The view from the mound is magnificient and the mound itself is interesting as it is so steep that you can't climb it directly but you go up on paths that are circling it. Very nice place to make a trip to.

Hidden in the Wolski Forest, built in mid thirties of 20th century, accessible only by foot by a network of paths (including three marked trails) leading here from all corners of the woodland. Two spiral paths leading from the foot of the Mound to the top of it, no charge for climbers. Nice viewing point, especially views to the west, as Krakow, located to the east, is a bit too far to fully enjoy its panorama - Kosciuszko's Mound located in the same Wolski Forest is much more suitable for that.
