About
Find Zakrzowek on Google images and You'll know you want to see it. It's a huge body of water made in old quarry. Only local people know it and love it. It's huge, beautiful, with crystal water, surrounded with park and rocks with amazing views, you'd never expect something like this in the very heart of Cracow. Best place to rest, appreciate nature, take some sunbath, meet local people and students.

We came here expecting to be able to swim on the docks, or in the lake like you can see on google images when you look up the place. Unfortunately this was closed off due to construction. The whole lake is covered by a fence so it is hard to access the water. It is however very easy to just walk through the fence and restricted signs, close to where you access the docks. There were about a hundred people of all ages swimming there, and the construction workers didn’t care at all. The temperature in the water is very nice. Some spots are quite muddy. I think once construction is finished it will be a beautiful spot, and definitely something to visit!

Must visit in summer! It’s free but you have to cue to get to the “beach” but well worth it for a swim and sunbathe. The walk around the quarry is also really nice and lovely views, takes about 1hr.

Im not even sure why is this place listed here?! I was born in Krakow, and to me, my family, friends...all people who were born and live in Krakow, this place brings on mind only bad impressions (crimes, dead bodies...). Some (weird) people go to sunbath there in the summer time, but I don't really know why , cause it's not even nice. But if you really really want to go there...it's your call, but I wouldn't recommend if after the sunset.

The old limestone quarry partially filled up with water is located 4 km southwest of Krakow's old town. It used to be a popular spot during the summer for swimming and sun bathing. However, since the summer of 2019 it is fenced off after two people drowned in the lake. Local people cut holes in the fence, so it is possible to walk around and enjoy peace and quiet. Do not swim or dive into the lake. On the bottom there is a lot of rubbish and at some places it is very deep (21m). I just watched the fish.
Redevelopment is scheduled to start in 2021. Let us hope it will regain its former charm.

I got the 18 tram to Norymberska, walked up Wylow about 10 minutes and took a left up a narrow path uphill. The views at the top are so beautiful, both of the lake and Krakow city. Worth the effort 100%.
According to the signs you can enter the lakeside area for 10zl per time.

I had seen the pictures online of this lake, but was a bit unsure how we were going to get to it. We took a taxi in the end, not too expensive between 2, and it dropped us off at a point where there were just a few paths to pick from and walk on. Bit muddy, should have worn more sensible shoes!
We picked the middle path which we just followed, there's quite a steep bit at one point but no problem unless wet I imagine. You feel completely separated from the city, it's very peaceful. And when you reach the top - WOW! The view over the lake was spectacular. We went on an unusually warm, sunny day (in Feb!) and just perched for a snack at the top before heading back down. Nothing else here except the view.
Taxi was waiting for us when we got back but there is also a tram stop somewhere not far away if we had got stuck.

A beautiful old mine turned into a lake and is twenty minutes from the city center of Krakow. Blue lake surrounded by cliffs and stunning! Most of them were locals (even a bride and groom who came to be photographed). The water was clear, cold but pleasant temperature and I couldn't get myself out of the water for an hour. Peaceful, relaxing and fun. Just Later we learned that the place was forbidden for swimming because of a death case of someone who jumped from a cliffs. When we left, we even ran into a police car that mainly gave parking tickets, so I do not know if the prohibition on swimming is real or not. In any case it is a virgin lake, and a real paradise !!!
Before you decide to come here please:
1. Check with a local person whether the place is opened and whether it is allowed to swim.
2. There is a diving point in the lake, it is fascinating to dive here, but without reservation on telephone, you can not enter to the diving center
3. There is only one official entrance, with a wooden path and a black metal fence. Next to it there is an ice-cream car. Please note that you will not enter unauthorized paths as they will lead you to beautiful cliffs with no access to the water.
4. Do not park at the entrance to the lake anywhere. A 5-minute walk from the lake there are several parking places, one near the local supermarket.
5. Not suitable for families with children. If you are children try this lake - Krypisnów Lagoon. Twelve kilometers from Krakow.

Beautiful, clear water to swim in. You can also hire a kayak for very cheap! It does cost to enter (12zl) but it is worth the expense. Make sure to wear good shoes as it is very rocky and there is smashed glass in places. My suggestion would be to bring food and drink for a picnic as there are no shops available.

We were I. krakow in November & had an afternoon spare. The website looked lovely & we thought we would go to take photographs of the beautiful scenery. When we got there it was all fenced off & there was a small gap in the fence that people were climbing through. We decided not to risk it and turned back

This is one of the most beautiful places I saw in my life.
It's just around 1h away from the city center (by public transportation). The park has this beautiful lake and even though it's artificial, it's amazing to see.
You can reach different spots around the lake by walking around on natural tracks. It's great to take beautiful pictures.
If you're luck enough, you can be there alone in quiet and feel at peace, but this place is a visit point for young people (often loud).

Wie ktoś czy aktualnie można wejść na teren Zakrzówka? Rozłożyć się z kocem i opalać, niekoniecznie nad wodą ;)

Hey, I'd like to know if it's possible to make some diving there ? I saw pictures on Google, but I didn't find how to proceed ? Is there an office or a company, agency, there or in the town?
Thank you :)

Hi. Zakrzówek is great place to diving. There is certified PADI center. Admission is payable - 30 zł per day.
There is compressor room (only compressed air and nitrox). There is equipment rental (fins, mask, sets of regulators, lighting, dry suits ...)
Max depth is about 36m. Visibility is usually very good - up to 25, sometimes 30m, but quite rarely.
The place is well maintained, well equipped. At the bottom are available a few training platform at different depths. In addition, suitable and safe wrecks.
More informations are available on KRAKEN website.
Good luck!

Подскажите как добраться до этого озера из центра? Есть ли тамблоустроенные пляжи и можно ли там купаться?
Written July 24, 2016
