Serving as a royal residence and the site where the country's rulers governed Poland for five centuries (1038-1596), this castle is a symbol of the independent Polish state and today contains a priceless collection of 16th-century Flemish tapestries, considered to be one of the largest in the world.

We was standing in the queue for over an hour in the rain as my son wanted to see the armoury ! We ended up not bothering with buying the tickets as the queue just didn't seem to move and it wasn't even that long! That was the only disappointing thing as the castle is beautiful, there is a little... More

Had a good time walking around the castle, brilliant views of the castle. Would recommend when visiting the city. There's a really nice bar which seemed pricey by Poland's standard but we'd certainly go back.

A prominent landmark of the city, perched on a hill top overlooking the slowly moving river. A place full of history!

This is about 15-20 minutes walk from the main market square in Krakow, and is one of the must-see places to visit. You buy tickets as you enter through the main gate, from the building on the left - not the first entrance, although this is marked as selling tickets, but the second. Arrive early in the day, as tickets... More

On our last day we went to Wewal Castle but sadly didn't have enough time to see everything. It is a lovely location high up alongside the river. We had to go in Dragon's Den so we could tell our 2 young grandchildren. 3 zloty entrance fee - down lots of steps in a spiral deep down finally opening up... More

Must be some great architects and builders in that time. but the beuaty of the building is considerable increased by the Vistula river (which lasy pass in front of the castle) and by the hill which support the castle. The hill give the opportunity to make good photos above the city. Not necessary to visit the interiors. even in the... More

No option to book online tickets and a long queue at the ticket office near the entrance. Hubby found a second bigger ticket office with no queue and we finally bought tickets for 2 exhibitions - Armoury and Stare Rooms. I strongly recommend the audio guide (20 pln each) since there are not lots of explanations inside. Overall an ok... More

Buy your tickets early - there are a fixed number each day and it is possible you may not be able to get in if you come later. We visited the State Rooms and Private Apartments and had a guided tour which was interesting and with humour. The tapestries and ceilings are of special interest. The whole tour took about... More
