The synagogue is small and unremarkable but the klezmer music concert was terrific. The small combo put a modern twist on klezmer music. There were only a handful of people there when I visited which is too bad because these guys are really good.

Last year, I wasn't sure if this was an active functioning synagogue. This year, I saw that it is THE busiest functioning synagogue. There were hundreds of worshippers both Friday night and saturday morning. It is administered by the Chabad organization. Be sure to note the painting of Hebrew passages on the walls. It is a good-sized complex and well worth the visit.

A friend told me about trying to catch a Klezmer music show at the historic Issac Synagogue. I was lucky enough to be in Krakow when the Tempero Band was playing. While there are other Klezmer music shows at restaurants or other venues, I would highly recommend trying to catch the Tempero Band (or another Klezmer music group) playing in this historic venue! It was a great show and the experience of listening to the music in the Issac Synagogue was one of my highlights from my 4-day trip to Krakow.

If the Tempero Band are not playing at the Issac Synagogue then try to catch one of their shows.

If you are buying tickets then it is cheapest to buy them directly from the Issac Synagogue -- you can buy them from the gift shop area during the opening hours during the day or just before a show. You can also buy the tickets online but there is a EUR 1-2 surcharge.

We usually have nothing to do besides eat when the sun goes down around 530. But it was nice to go to the show. It was folk music played by the Tempero group. The violinist was amazing. Also there was an accordion, drums and bass. Was about an hour long. I would suggest it to anyone above the age of 15 to at least try it

A beautiful (although quite plain) building which has a great staircase. Situated away from the main tourist trail so often overlooked and there are concerts (very reaosnably priced) there most days throughout the summer months. Well worth a visit!

We went to a Klezmer Concert, it was the Tempero Group and was excellent. I am not Jewish although my friend is so I had not enjoyed this type of music before but found it most enjoyable. Unfortunately there was only a very small gathering but I would certainly encourage people to go and listen. It was played between 6 and 7 so therefore on leaving it was good to be able to find a variety of restaurants to finish off the evening.

This XVII century Synagogue has two legends inextricably tied to the synagogue. The first revolves around a miraculous dream that Jakubowicz had when he was young and impoverished. He dreamed that there was a treasure buried under a bridge in Prague. He eventually found a way to make it to Prague, but the bridge about which he had dreamed was surrounded by soldiers and there was no way to go about looked for his treasure. Young Isaac decided to tell a soldier about his dream. The soldier eventually burst into laughter, and replied that he, too, had dreamed of a treasure, but that in his dream the treasure was located under the stove of Isaac, some Jew from Kazimierz. The soldier lamented that every other Jew in Kraków was probably named Isaac! Isaac returned to his home in Kraków, moved his stove, and found an enormous treasure, which allowed him to not only expand his factory, but also build the most beautiful synagogue in the city.

This little synagogue was closed for visitations, so we enjoyed it exterior and admired the architecture that survived WWII.

The Synagogue has been restored and is worth a visit but, unless you have a special interest, combine your visit with a 1-hour Klezmer Music Concert. Check the times at the tourist office (where you can book a ticket) but they are usually at 6pm on Mon/Wed/Thu/Sun.
We were mesmerised by the incredible performances of the musicians. Don't miss it.

I was lucky enough to attend a Sabboth service on the 15/07/16. Although I am not Jewish, I have always been fascinated by both the culture & religion, therefore this was a chance not to be missed. I felt honoured that I was offered the chance to attend.
Thank you very much.
