I am an educator from Atlanta, GA, in the United States where I teach a seminar class on the Holocaust to high school sophomores. For over 10 years now I have been running trips with my students to Auschwitz to study the Holocaust more carefully. Each year I make arrangements to hire a local tour guide who is a scholar/specialist on Auschwitz to guide my students there. Tomasz Cebulski is exceptional, the very best. Auschwitz is a terribly difficult place to guide students. It demands one who is not only an expert on the history of Auschwitz but of the Holocaust itself. Moreover for a place as incomprehensible as Auschwitz (especially for high school students), guides there must be able to convey the meaning of this history, its lessons, without being trite and in a way that challenges us. With his unique sensibility and expert delivery Tomasz Cebulski surpasses both of these requirements. His sincerity reaches me and my students in that place where truth is kept. Their time with Tomasz leaves a lasting impression. He is exactly the type of guide that Auschwitz requires.

Simply wonderful experience. Of course, the visit to Auschwitz is not easy, it is a very delicate part of history that needs to be known and studied, and Tomasz was responsible for guiding our group, not only presenting us with the historical facts, but also bringing a very precise interpretation and critical view, without forgetting respect and sensitivity. I plan to repeat the experience with some family members soon and I will certainly not think twice before contacting Tomasz to help us again.

My siblings and I had the most memorable and informative day with Tomasz visiting Aushwitz Birkenau. We couldn't have hoped for a better guide and he really made our trip. His knowledge is incredibly extensive and he really made the experience much more valuable. I would highly recommend him.

I highly recommend Tomasz as a guide for anyone travelling to Poland to learn about Jewish history and culture in this region! I had a fairly deep understanding of the Holocaust before the trip and booked a tour with Tomasz because I was sure that I would be able to learn from him. He is incredibly knowledgeable about Polish history, Jewish history in central and eastern Europe, and the Holocaust. More importantly, he is very good at explaining and sharing his vast knowledge with visitors. We did a 4 day tour with Tomasz including Krakow, Auschwitz-Birkenau, Lublin, Majdanek and stops at various towns that used to have large Jewish communities. Many guides can show you the camps and tell you about the Holocaust, but Tomasz will additionally teach you about the long and rich history of the thriving Jewish community in central and eastern Europe, which is crucial to fully understand the Holocaust. I give my highest recommendation to touring with Tomasz, regardless of how much time you have.

Tomasz Cebulski was a fabulous tour guide in literally every single aspect of my trip. Expecting my travel plans to be cancelled by COVID, I put this trip together in an extreme rush once it became clear that the trip would go forward. Despite my booking Tomasz’s services less than a week before I showed up in Poland, he did some research in advance of my arrival and had some information and records about my family when I arrived. He also suggested that I switch to a different hotel than initially planned, and his suggestion was very wise. Most importantly, once I actually arrived in Poland, Tomasz had extraordinary knowledge about Polish history, Polish-Jewish culture and history, the Holocaust, Eastern European politics, and so many topics. Still, he was very sensitive to offering up information as wanted and as interests dictated; he was also sensitive to allowing me space to think about what I was seeing, what I was exploring and so forth. He was very flexible and tweaked the tour as we got to know each other better and as the trip unfolded. He had many contacts in various places and is clearly well known and respected in the communities in which he circulates. He had a particular knack for zeroing in on what would be of interest to me and reshaping things to match my interests. During the trip we had occasion to discuss some ongoing interests, and he was gracious and kind to follow up after the conclusion of my trip with information helpful to some projects I was working on. Lastly, apart from being an excellent guide and a fountain of knowledge, he is an all around nice, gracious and pleasant person to spend time with. You cannot do better than Tomasz.
