We hired Polin Travel before Covid but had not gotten around to writing a review until now (TripAdvisor doesn't give us the option of dating the tour correctly). That said, Tomas' one-day tour of Auschwitz was fantastic, and we still recall it as perhaps the best guided tour we have taken, anywhere. Despite his busy schedule including a lecture scheduled for the same day, Tomas agreed to take us to Auschwitz during the week of Krakow's Jewish Culture Festival. Prior to arriving, we had told him about our family's personal connection to Auschwitz (several family were transported there from Belgium, and murdered). So he arranged for us to visit the particular spots they would likely have seen and traversed given the particular transports they took. Not only was he extremely knowledgeable about Auschwitz and the Holocaust , but we also appreciated his sensitivity and willingness to leave us alone at the gas chambers so we could say Kaddish for family members, whose family has never visited there before. Our day in Auschwitz remains one we will never forget.

Tomasz Cebulski is enormously knowledgeable and a guide of the highest calibre. Visiting the largest of the death camps is a shattering experience which left my group completely hollow by the end of the day. Tomasz is an expert beyond comparison. I would make every body visit this camp at some point in their life and Tomasz would be the person who should guide them.

Our tour started at the gathering square in Krakow, now a memorial marked with chairs. The depth and detail on background pre 1939 from a social, economic, political, cultural, religious point of view at that time was crucial in my understanding of a question I've always had, "how could the Holocaust have happened?" With understanding that crucial background it helped answer the difficult question, the understanding of the process was very important to have before arriving at Aushwitz. We were also able to ask a tremendous amount of questions that were knowledgeably adhered answered by professor Tomasz, an added benefit of the intimacy of this tour. Arriving in Aushwitz time was given for further questions and the system in place with the headsets for all visitors was much appreciated as there were many visitors yet we could keep well informed with good sound. It's a difficult visit but one all persons should do, specially because genocide has still taken place in different ways around the world even after Auschwitz and the Nazi's final solution plan took place. Highly recommend this tour with professor Tomasz.

A fascinating and thought provoking day with a guide who gave us just the right amount of information and, when needed, allowed what we were seeing and experiencing to speak for itself. It must be one of the most difficult places to be a guide and to get the balance right. Ulrich did just that.
