I am an educator from Atlanta, GA, in the United States where I teach a seminar class on the Holocaust to high school sophomores. For over 10 years now I have been running trips with my students to Auschwitz to study the Holocaust more carefully. Each year I make arrangements to hire a local tour guide who is a scholar/specialist on Auschwitz to guide my students there. Tomasz Cebulski is exceptional, the very best. Auschwitz is a terribly difficult place to guide students. It demands one who is not only an expert on the history of Auschwitz but of the Holocaust itself. Moreover for a place as incomprehensible as Auschwitz (especially for high school students), guides there must be able to convey the meaning of this history, its lessons, without being trite and in a way that challenges us. With his unique sensibility and expert delivery Tomasz Cebulski surpasses both of these requirements. His sincerity reaches me and my students in that place where truth is kept. Their time with Tomasz leaves a lasting impression. He is exactly the type of guide that Auschwitz requires.

Spending four days with Tomasz in Poland was an education in world history with a specialization in the Middle East! You can see in his commitment to his subject matter- living in Jerusalem, learning a lifetime heritage of its culture, values and politics to include extensive study of its cemeteries as well as those in Poland His narrative is much more than an overview of the subject matter. It is the education of a mentor and advisor of a PHD candidate. He himself knows all about earning those degrees and teaching Doc and Post Doc candidates from around the world. He is a wealth of charm and empathy and a dedicated researcher in pursuit of clients' individual genealogy and other interests. You will be thoroughly delighted by the experience.

I highly recommend Tomasz as a guide for anyone travelling to Poland to learn about Jewish history and culture in this region! I had a fairly deep understanding of the Holocaust before the trip and booked a tour with Tomasz because I was sure that I would be able to learn from him. He is incredibly knowledgeable about Polish history, Jewish history in central and eastern Europe, and the Holocaust. More importantly, he is very good at explaining and sharing his vast knowledge with visitors. We did a 4 day tour with Tomasz including Krakow, Auschwitz-Birkenau, Lublin, Majdanek and stops at various towns that used to have large Jewish communities. Many guides can show you the camps and tell you about the Holocaust, but Tomasz will additionally teach you about the long and rich history of the thriving Jewish community in central and eastern Europe, which is crucial to fully understand the Holocaust. I give my highest recommendation to touring with Tomasz, regardless of how much time you have.

I had been in touch with Dr. Tomasz Cebulski for over 2 years (pre COVID). I can't begin to elaborate on how helpful he was on planning our trip, arranging hotels..... He also advocated on my behalf to ensure a credit with the requisite travel organization!
My son and I took a tour of Auschwitz with Jerzy. It was so incredibly informative and meaningful! We really gained so much from this trip. It was a trip of a lifetime, and we will always be grateful!
Thank you Tomasz and Jerzy for creating such an impactful experience for us!

We were going to Kracow for the first time and knew how important it was to have a good guide to show us around and explain everything to us.
We were extremely fortunate to find Thomasz. He was absolutely wonderful in every way, knowledgeable, charming and patient. When we visited Auschwitz and Birkenau he shared all his knowledge with us.
I would highly recommend him to anybody that wants to visit Poland.

Tomasz was nothing less than an exceptional, personable, and incredibly knowledgeable tour guide. I feel so lucky to have serendipitously connected with him. I was absolutely anxious about my visit to Auschwitz, and hoped to find a private tour to ease the difficulty of the visit. Tomasz is not only a genuine scholar; he was sensitive to where i was, provided incredibly thoughtful answers to every question I could think up over the course of some nine hours, and helped me with the logistics of my travel. I could not recommend him highly enough. What a wonderful person!

Tomasz was an exceptional guide. Visiting Auschwitz is an intense and emotional experience for many people, so it's important to be there under the right conditions. We were very glad to be there with Tomasz, who is extremely knowledgeable, attentive and sensitive. Our tour was very well thought out and extremely in-depth, and Tomasz was very in touch with our needs and interests. I would absolutely recommend!

Tomasz is much more than just a great guide. And he is a great guide. He listens, he is personable and he is engaging.
Moreover, Tomasz is a thoughtful and intelligent commenter on politics, society and history. He provides an engrossing and enriching experience. Almost a combo of a tour with a university seminar which enriches the deep and heavy experience of visiting Auschwitz and Birkenau. While incredibly knowledgeable, he doesn’t preach. He gives you the information amd lets you draw your conclusions.
I couldn’t recommend him more highly.

Tomasz Cebulski is enormously knowledgeable and a guide of the highest calibre. Visiting the largest of the death camps is a shattering experience which left my group completely hollow by the end of the day. Tomasz is an expert beyond comparison. I would make every body visit this camp at some point in their life and Tomasz would be the person who should guide them.

Simply wonderful experience. Of course, the visit to Auschwitz is not easy, it is a very delicate part of history that needs to be known and studied, and Tomasz was responsible for guiding our group, not only presenting us with the historical facts, but also bringing a very precise interpretation and critical view, without forgetting respect and sensitivity. I plan to repeat the experience with some family members soon and I will certainly not think twice before contacting Tomasz to help us again.

I am going to be in Krakow this summer (July 2019) and would like to take a side tour to Działoszyce, my mother's birthplace, and/or Stradow, where my mother hid during WWII. How can I make this happen?

Sorry for late reply. The boss Tomasz was on a book tour (he also wrote a book) so was busy when we contacted him and he did take awhile to get back to me. But he is worth it if you still have the time. Great guide and great person.

How far from Krakow can your tours extend? We were looking in to going to Stryji, which is now in the Western Ukraine. Are there any tours that would accommodate us? My grandparents were from Stryji before WWII and some family members may have remained until the war.
