Lots of walking. Plenty to see. Unbelievablely well preserved. The guide was seemingly well informed.
Only negative being some annoying tourist taking selfies in a place which is potentially the world's largest murder and unmarked grave site. Prices in the only shops are not extortionate.
You can enter for free but would recommend and guide every time because they structure seems to help minimise the walking time otherwise you could be there all day. Transport to is very accessible from krakow cost us £3 each way from krakow paid to bus driver.

This is a place where everyone should go. Words cannot explain or describe the emotions I felt here. Our guide (Michel) was brilliant. He spoke passionately but also left us to our own thoughts. Just be aware that you cannot take bags with you that are bigger than A4 paper size( I had to leave mine on our bus) and there is a charge for the toilet!

This is one of the more eye opening places you will ever visit. We arranged our tour through an operator in Krakow. There are are many tour operators who offer much the same experience. On arrival you are met with your tour guide and given a headset to enable you to hear the guide. The guides are extremely knowledgeable and are willing to answer any questions you may have. It is also worth remembering what happened here and to conduct yourself accordingly and treat the museum with respect and dignity. Selfies are not allowed, while we visited we witnessed some younger tourists picking up the flowers left in remembrance of loved ones lost and posing with them... A DEFINITE NO! It is heartbreaking and surreal and even after visiting it is still difficult to get a sense of the scale of things.
It can get busy during the summer, we went in November so not too busy. You need to wear comfortable shoes as there is a lot of walking involved. They do cater for people with impaired mobility.
I would highly recommend a tour!!!!

Excellent tour. Pick up in Krakow . Coach takes just over an hour. Well organised . Knowledgeable tour guide. Be prepared for the true horror of this site . Visited Auschwitz and Birkenau . You will need good walking shoes . No luggage nor big bags allowed on site - can be left on coach or locker. Water needed in summer. Well laid out tour of museum ,Barracks ,gas chambers and crematoriums . It is hard to understand the Holocaust .

It’s very difficult to say that you enjoy this tour because of the atrocities that went on there. What I will say is that it is thoroughly fascinating and engrossing. The guides are friendly and knowledgeable. The walkways are very cobbled so you need to wear flat boots or trainer. You also wear a headset to hear your guide. My only criticism is that it feels a little bit rushed. There are quite a few people in any one tour and if you’re at the back and want to take any photographs, the signal between your headset and the guide’s mic drops occasionally.

More of a pilgrimage to visit the Death Camp to pay our respects for the millions who perished. The local tour guide Danuta (I think) was excellent with her compassionate dialogue and facts. The museum itself was incredibly thought-provoking and highlighted the true scale of the atrocities but with genuine respect

We booked this tour on the Saturday for the Sunday. We were picked up at a nearby hotel from hours. One other passenger on board. Driver very friendly, spoke perfect English and very informative on journey. Driver stayed with us until through security auschwitz and introduced us to our tour guide. He arranged to meet us again to take us to the second part of the tour.
Again he was at said meeting point at end of tour.
The tour itself is outstanding. Everyone who visits Poland must do this tour. You’ll witness scenes you could never begin to imagine.
Definitely recommend.
From start to finish the tour including driver etc cost roughly £35 per person. Excellent value for a full day excursion with private driver.

A place we should all visit and which should be on everyones “Todo”list. To remember the horrors man does to man. To remember and respect the souls destroyed and to ensure that generations to come never let it happen again in. May their souls rest in peace.

Beware: mobility impaired visitors will struggle and not suitable forwheelchair users.

This place should be held in sombre reflection and i believe photos should not be published to show what its like. Visit it .

I think everybody, given the opportunity should visit Auschwitz, to pay respect to the millions of people who lost their lives, and to remember just how bad things can get when power falls into the wrong hands. Our tour guide was fantastic, you could see how passionate all of the staff are about sharing the history and stories from the war.

The amount of people I saw pouting and taking selfies was a disgrace, please stop being so self absorbed, put your phone away, and pay respect to one of the darkest periods of the past centenary.

We booked a tour to Auschwitz-Birkenau.
The tour guide was punctual and the bus was very clean and comfortable. Although the bus trip is approximately 1 hour long, they played a video in the bus that prepared us for the visit.
The tour is very fast paced with one very short break and therefore not recommended for older visitors or visitors with mobility issues.

A visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau is must if visiting Kraków.
