We were strolling through the Market Square in Krakow and were asked by Rudolf from City Walks, if we would like to experience a free tour of the old town. Naturally, you think there has to be a catch, but this was one of the most enjoyable three hours we spent in this beautiful city. Rudolf is a really nice guy and is so proud and enthusiastic about his Polish heritage, which was evident in his commentary throughout the guided tour. We were shown areas of the city which you probably wouldn't see otherwise, and were amazed and intrigued by the history of Krakow. Our group of around 15 people, took a coffee break halfway through the tour, at a cafe in the basement of the old university building. What an amazing place to sit and relax with a hot drink, while Rudolf explained about the famous people who were born in the city.
The tour ended in the grounds of the castle, overlooking the river, where Rudolf promised we would witness a fire breathing dragon! A great way to end our memorable walk! If you see Rudolf in Krakow Market Square, go on his guided tour, you will not be disappointed!
At the end of the walk, you are encouraged to give the guide a tip, which is how the free tour works, but Rudolf deserves every penny for such an informative and entertaining tour!
