We were strolling through the Market Square in Krakow and were asked by Rudolf from City Walks, if we would like to experience a free tour of the old town. Naturally, you think there has to be a catch, but this was one of the most enjoyable three hours we spent in this beautiful city. Rudolf is a really nice guy and is so proud and enthusiastic about his Polish heritage, which was evident in his commentary throughout the guided tour. We were shown areas of the city which you probably wouldn't see otherwise, and were amazed and intrigued by the history of Krakow. Our group of around 15 people, took a coffee break halfway through the tour, at a cafe in the basement of the old university building. What an amazing place to sit and relax with a hot drink, while Rudolf explained about the famous people who were born in the city.
The tour ended in the grounds of the castle, overlooking the river, where Rudolf promised we would witness a fire breathing dragon! A great way to end our memorable walk! If you see Rudolf in Krakow Market Square, go on his guided tour, you will not be disappointed!
At the end of the walk, you are encouraged to give the guide a tip, which is how the free tour works, but Rudolf deserves every penny for such an informative and entertaining tour!

For anyone who has not used a tour guide before this is a must as you arrive in the city. It's totally FREE a tip is optional. Dale our tour guide was very knowledgeable, funny and great delivery. If it weren't for the tour we would of just viewed beautiful buildings instead we received the history behind each building and that was a totally different experience. Our guide was also happy to share his recommendations such as tours, restaurants, bars and answer any questions....100% recommend!

We joined the tour in the main square on a whim, and we're glad we did. Michael was our guide. His spoken English is fantastic and his knowledge of Krakow is amazing, both historical fact and folklore legend.
Despite the weather being poor, we decided to join Michael for the afternoon tour of the Jewish quarter. Again, very informative and interesting. A very enjoyable day that would otherwise been spent wandering around Krakow not knowing what we are looking at. We definitely found places we would not otherwise of found. The tours were free, but you were informed that a "tip" was optional. Although no amount was suggested, l felt 200zlt (£10 each for my wife and l) was reasonable. Each tour lasts approx 2 1/2 hrs. There is quite a bit of walking, but not too far. There was a comfort break for tea, coffee & toilet.
Find your guide outside St Mary's Basilica on the main square, holding a Union Jack brolly. Tours left at 1000 & 1530 (l think). As said, we didn't book, but glad we tagged on to what was an enjoyable walk/tour with a knowledgeable guide in a small group. Thank you.

This walking tour is the most efficient way to see and learn about the history of Krakow. It is very well organized, and you have the chance to see all the major sights of the city. Rudolf was our guide, and he made our tour extra special, as he spiced up his descriptions with all the local myths. His knowledge of the local history, along with his spicy and very amusing way of showing us the Polish heritage made this experience unforgettable! Highly recommended!!!

Easily the best walking tour I've ever done of a city. My guide was Rudolf, and he was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! He loves history and is so involved in his city - he truly manages to transmit his passion for what he does. His English is absolutely perfect and he is also a very expressive guy, tells the story so enthusiastically that we even ended up picking people up in the middle of the tour!! His tour is super super well thought-out. He would even check his watch to make sure he was on time to bring us to specially-timed attractions. Truly truly it is the best walking tour I've ever been on. I wouldn't doubt going on the tour with Rudolf for even one second :) you won't regret it!

I spent the whole day with Dale doing the free tour in the morning and the Jewish one in the afternoon.
In the first one Dale gives you a good image of the City to understand its history and importance and in the 2nd one you go deeper to realize everything that has happened in the City in the XX century.
Both are definitely worth it but the jewish is a MUST

Dale is a wonderful and experienced tour guide! He took us nearly all around town, kept us interested in his articulation of Kraków's history and would keep the tour engaged by asking questions to the crowd if they thought the tall tales of Kraków are genuine or not (which was fun). We also participated in his night food tour which was much more personable and relaxed, can't forget to mention TASTY. He was very open to the crowd asking additional questions and had a very friendly demeanor the entire time. Punctual and respectful as all tour guides should be. Flexible and great with communication. Would recommend and would return to him to do the afternoon tour we missed out on, the Jewish quarter.

Thought I would try this as it's free and tip based so thought why not. On reflection I am so glad that we did it. Tour was well organised, meeting point was clear and guides we easy to find. Our guide Rudolph was superb, only a young lad 24yrs old. However he was very confident, very good with all of the guests and his English was not only excellent but quite eloquent especially for someone so young. He came across as being very passionate about the subject matter and after having a conversation with him it was clear that he enjoyed doing what he was doing which for me can make all of the difference. They your was engaging and very informative. Would absolutely recommend and if I go back I would probably do it again.

We did the walking tour of the old town and wawel castel in Krakow and it was amazing! We learned a lot about the history of Krakow. Our guide Magda revealed to have a great knowledge about the city and its history, she provided us with many interesting facts and legends, always communicating very clearly and enthusiastically. She was also available to provide us with many recommendations (e.g. restaurants, museums) and directions. We are very satisfied with this tour and we highly recommend it!

I purchased the self guided audio tour from City Walks Krakow on the VoiceMaps app. I really enjoyed this tour on a hot day as I could stop and take breaks whenever I wanted, rather than being in a group. The audio guide was very informative and generally guided me well, although I found it a little difficult to resume the tour when I deviated from the planned route.
