Matejko Square is the square were you will find the magnificent Grunwald Monument, probably the most famous monument in Krakow.
Surrounded on all sides by grand architecture it's quite a busy square but with its close proximity to The Barbican and Floriańska Gate hardly surprising really.
There's some nice traditional Polish restaurants and taverns here ,it's just a great square and area to visit.
Well worth checking out.

Matejko Square is a square I always tend to visit on any holiday I take to Krakow, its an impressive square, grand looking buildings all around, the centrepiece of this square is the Grunwald Monument, in my opinion the most beautiful monument in the city, there's also a great memorial to Polish soldiers who've gave up their lives in various conflicts that Poland has been involved in ,there's also some nice pubs and restaurants along the square, if you're planning a holiday to Krakow it's most definitely square to check out.

This square always amazes me especially at Christmas time, when the lights dazzle me and the small Christmas Market fills my belly. Always a wonderful experience to visit throughout the year, with the horse carriages decorated in accordance with the season.

Matejko Square. Lovely . The name of the square is connected to the bestowal of honorary citizenship of Kraków - the painter Jan Matejko

This popular Cracovian square was laid out at the end of the 19th century and it is known for the Grunwald Monument situated in the very centre.

The square is outside the Old Town, however very close to the Barbican. There is the Gruewlad monument on the square.
