Go here first instead of the Birkenau Camp. Come here early (0730) to get your tickets ($50.00 family of 3)for the tour which will start here and eventually go to the Birkenau in a bus after a 15 minute break. Bring identification for you and your family or else you won't get in. They will check it at the ticket booth and at the entrance. Kids must be 13 years old. The tour is roughly 3 hours, you can take pictures in the camp but some areas are restricted. …

They say that "seeing is believing", well to a point that remains true and everyone should see for them selves the cap, the process and memories of this place. Seeing is also disbelieving, because its unimaginable for normal people to comprehend the dreadful way one race treated others and "normalised" their brutality. I strongly recommend you have a guide. They explain everything, if you don't you end up just seeing buildings, brick monuments without any knowledge of the events within them. More than somber, but it does change you afterwards …

The AJC is an incredible museum that preserves the Jewish history of the town of Oswiecim. The synagogue has been beautifully restored and the site of the great synagogue of the town has a beautiful memorial. The city tours are very informative as to the notable Jewish places in the town. Highly recommend this museum to learn more about Jewish history in Poland that was erased in the Holocaust.…
