This time we brought some first-timers to this museum and we all enjoyed it. The staff was very pleasant and ready to help.
The museum is located in the 14th castle near the river. In the courtyard we got to see the famous Prussian Baba sculpture. Once again we also admired the Copernicus wall calculations and his astronomical drawings. More extensive ones are in Fromborg castle. The museum houses a permanent exhibit - Mikolaj Kopernik: Resident of the Olsztyn Castle.
We enjoyed very interesting but perhaps a temporary exhibit of folk fabrics. The whole process starting with cultivation of flax, cotton and wool and ending with variety of looms and presentation of ancient folk fabrics was conveyed very well.. Many explanations were available in English.

The museum is seated in a castle and is not very large, you can go through it in about an hour.
You can see there the Copernicus medical incunabula with his own handwritten notes, old coins (some of them realy big, can't imagine to carry them in the wallet), bell founding products, sculptures... A large part of the exposition is dedicated to the life of ordinary people. Very interesting is the section with examples of underwear, which in earlier times people wore under their clothes.

not enough options to explore, bit expensive. Even the roof top is enclosed so not much to do, better to explore old town instead

Visited recently with our family. Slightly put off by unhelpful staff both in the main entrance as well as in the tickets area for the tower. Shame :(

The Museum of Warmia is located in a former Castle of the Teutonic Knights. Copernicus lived here for a while and made calculations on the wall. A big bang mecca

We came back to visit this museum after several years and we truly enjoyed the exhibits and collections again. Especially the Kopernik exhibit which is very informative and pleasant to visit if you follow the Copernicus theme during your Warmia trip. You can see here the experimental astronomical table Copernicus used and his medical incunabula. The museum is located in fourteenth-century Gothic castle.

Closed on Mon. Small entry fee. See Kopernikus' original drawings tracking the sunbeams. Lots of history, artefacts and go up into the tower to get a good view of Olsztyn

Worth stopping in for to see some amazing bits of the old building itself that houses the museum. Great rooms with massive high vaulted ceilings, lots of old wood and very typical Polish country style.

I expected a little bit more, to find more about Warmia and Mazury, about history, nature and tradition, and to discover castle. After museums in Warsaw and Torun this museum is quite small and old-fasionated (traditional). There are some interesting artefacts but not presented in the best way. There could be visited only small part od castle. Anyway, this museum should be visited.
