The Central Cemetery is very impressive due to it's size and the fact that it is more like a park where you find multiple areas to explore. There are formal areas for military graves, informal park like areas and intimate places as well. Most of...More

Very well known sight of city on the way to Berlin- the biggest cemetery in Europe with tens of thousands of tombs and graves and make monuments - but honestly, one time of visiting is enough

Was there the first time to visit grave of a family member. Peaceful place full of trees and flowers. Very clean and taken care of. You have a feeling of a big park and not a cemetary.

This should not be categorized as the cemetery. We were so close to missing this amazing place and had the apartment right next to it. Park is live and full of beauty. You can walk around for hours. And additionally discover some history. This is...More

Vienna central station to Central Cemetery (6 Replies)
We arrive into Vienna several hours before we can check into our apartment. We plan to use the lockers at the train station to hold our luggage so we can adventure out and go to the Central cemetery. I was looking at google maps and for options it shows the quickest option is the S80 to Wien Simmering Bahnhof and than transfer to the 6 to Zentralfriedhof 2.Tor Is the S80 inside the train station or are there signs that lead to the S-Bahn like there is to the U1 at the station? It will be confusing for you to find the S80. Just take the U1 to Reumannplatz and change to Tram 6. Use the Qando app for using transport in Vienna.

Vienna Airport to Central Cemetery (Zentralfriedhof)?? (7 Replies)
I plan on buying a 3 day s-bahn ticket, does anyone know off the top of their head is this trains will take me to the cemetery? I want to visit this place before I head into the city, but wasn't sure the best and cheapest way to get there. Thanks in advance.

The S7 train from the airport does stop at the Zentralfriedhof. But the stop is effectively at the back of the cemetery away from the main tourist sights and do you really want to do this whilst laden down with luggage?

Need Some Restaurant Advice (2 Replies)
Hi friends, You all have been such a wealth of information as we plan our first trip to Wien. Thank you so much. I'd like some recommendations on restaurants and I think I can narrow down the bezirk or area for each lunch/dinner. So far we have no lunch or dinner plans fixed. Night 1: We will be leaving the Naschmarkt and flea market upon closing at 6pm and would like to eat afterwards. Could eat somewhere in this area or in 8, where our accomodations are. Day/Night 2: Lunch in...More
