About
Waly Chrobrego (German name: Hakenterrasse) - promenade with great views on Oder river and port, a favourite among the locals and tourists. Many cafes are situated here. See the Maritime museum (Muzeum Morskie), situated just in the center of Waly which houses some artifacts from history of the city and also has big collections of African and maritime artifacts.

I was in this area 2 times during my trip last week and it was so amazingly beautiful there. First of all, great buildings. The view of the river. Statue and decorations in general. And a sort of triumphal arch when you came from one side. Also learned a lot afterwards about the area. A horse-drawn carriage was ready if I wanted to take it. I was completely put off. A small bike coffee shop. Beautiful, no more, no less. But the pictures didn't turn out so well because things were so big in combination with the wrong choice of program on the camera. Ergo, one distance picture from the other side of the river taken with a mobile phone will be my contribution.

The Hakenterasse determines the city panorama. We visited them on New Year's Eve, the fountain was understandably out and empty but unfortunately the buildings were not lit up in the evening. Nevertheless, a beautiful ensemble of buildings with a museum, university and district office

An absolute highlight/must-see when visiting Szczecin. The building ensemble fits perfectly with the historic terrace.
The best pictures of the Hakenterrasse can be taken from the other bank of the Oder (Grodzka Island).
It's a shame that the fountain wasn't working when we visited in the spring.

We Walker the red line tourist trail and came by this area. Really beautiful with lots of old buildings and a nice view over the river. Had a coffee and sat overlooking the area. Defitely a place to walk by if you are in the Stettin.

Waly Chrobrego (Chrobry Ramparts/ Waterfront or Hakenterrasse in German) are one of Szczecin's biggest attractions, not only for the tourists but also among the locals as a favourite place for walks and hanging out. Located just on the banks of Odra River (Oder), the ramparts were built in early 1900s and offer lovely views of harbour and the river.
When on Waly, make sure to see the monument of Hercules fighting with a Centaur on the upper terrace, as well as the fountain and two lighthouse-like columns situated on the lower terrace - street level (just down the stairs). You're then only few steps from the banks of the Odra River (across a busy road of Jana z Kolna) and a short walk along them is highly recommended. There's always some boats/ ships docked in there, you can start your harbour cruise from here, have a lunch in one of the pubs or on Ladoga restaurant or even visit one of the ships if they are open for tourists at the time. There's further restaurants/ bars located on top of Waly Chrobrego - more posh & pricey Chrobry Restaurant and Columbus and Colorado - one at each end of the ramparts' promenade. You should definitely find at least half an hour in your schedule and try to see & enjoy Waly 'the local way' - sit on top of the upper-terrace stairs or on one of many benches along the promenade, enjoy the views and people-watch. You will also find some very interesting buildings along the Waly Chrobrego Street (on top of ramparts) - those housing the local government, Maritime Museum, The Modern Theater and finally the Maritime University of Szczecin (hence so many students and good atmosphere on Waly).
The ramparts are also a centre of Days of the Sea/ Sail Szczecin Festival taking place every year in June. It's an interesting event with loads of concerts and maritime activities for a whole family, however Waly are extremely crowded at the time which might be a bit of a charm-wrecker for tourists seeking peace and quiet.
All in all Waly Chrobrego is a real must see when in Szczecin and especially spectacular when seen from the river or from The Castle Route.

it is worth seeing how Germans has been building their cities... in front of the river Odra you can see the majesty of Szczecin, that was very important administration place in the country .. now in Poland it is abandoned, fallen scrub ... what a pity ...

Nice walk along the promenade with some huge buildings but sadly there is very little English to explain what is around you.
Could not find any Tourist information office anywhere even though we googled things. Not much to see that was of interest because of the lack of English in museum brochures. No tourist brochures were found anywhere so you may drive around or wander aimlessly.
Szczecin is not set up for tourists and in general aside from Krakow two days away, which is beautiful and full of tourists, the local Polish people were not as friendly or courteous as we had hoped.
We will certainly be more inclined to spend our tourist dollars elsewhere and omit Poland from a return visit.
Signed....seasoned travellers.

One of the best places in Szczecin. Really nice view over Odra river and part of the Szczecin Port. I recommend you walks in the night time which you might find very romantic. You will find there also very nice restaurants with really good food.
What can I write more? You just have to check this place by your own, it's really worth it

My time in Szczecin was only a few hours; it was an easy/inexpensive bus trip from Berlin. Poland is part of the EU but doesn't use the Euro as currency, although many businesses will accept the Euro, they prefer the zloty. Trip suggestion: Exchange some money, walk along the Odra River to the Waly Chorbrego Promenade and then prepare for a lot of steps/stairs. The red brick building (seemed to be a municipal building) offers free WiFi. a small cafe, and a host of rooms/departments that I could only guess at.
When I visited, the weather was cold, wet, windy and sleeting. My photos add nothing to TripAdvisor's collection. It's an attractive area even in dismal weather, it must be very pretty in clear, sunny weather.

This is the jewel of Szczecin. Several restaurants, fountains, good for people-watching and relaxing. A short way from the centre with shopping-malls (about 10minutes walk), 3-5minutes walk to the Pomeranian Castle, and 7minutes walk away from the old town. A "must" for all visitors!
