You will burn a lot of calories if you climb the bell tower (ticket required). We also checked the exhibition which was only two rooms due to renovations. It is worth being there when the hour strikes and check the jester on the clock.

We only went up the tower.
202 steps! Need to watch the head because the ceiling is low and white with no signs on the way up, only when going down.
There is panoramic view of 360 degrees. It was great! Very worth the effort.
Better to go up after going around the city so you know what you are looking at.

Szczecin doesn't have great tourist sites like Warsaw, Gdansk or Cracow but the Pomeranian Dukes Castle is certainly worth a visit. There are old artifacts on display and they have concerts in the courtyard. The best attraction is the bell tower. You can walk the steps up to the top for a good view of the town.

Pomeranian Dukes' Castle is a magical place. Apart from the entire history associated with the place, I always felt special and I had the impression that time has stopped. Almost every day in the summer time there are performances for children, women presentations and shows by local bands. Standing in the courtyard of the castle I like to look up because the architecture reminds me of intricately decorated cake. In the castle you can visit the chamber, tombs, and of course the tower with stunning views. Highly recommended.

I thought my visit to Stettin after such a long time, would be very emotional. But I was surprised how nice it was. First of all the Radisson SAS Hotel was real nice, especially the food, it was top notch. Breakfast was there for every nationality.

Our tour guide Anna, a very experienced lady, made us very welcome and was impressive with her knowledge of the city and the history. I remembered things from my childhood school field trip, but of course from Anna I learnt so much more. The inner city still had many sites that had not changed and others that had been restore very nicely. Unfortunately the house where my family once lived did not look so nice anymore.
But otherwise we enjoyed our trip and also the visit to the Cafe 22, which gives you a wonderful panorama view of the city and environ.

The only bad thing was that we were confused as to what track our train for Hamburg would depart from. The poster was not marked very well and we could not find anyone at the station that spoke Englsh or German, but eventually after carrying our suitcases up and down the stairs from track one to three, we finally got on the right train.

Very picturesque place, at least from out side. There is a tower you can climb on and a museum, some restaurants, gift shop, but don't buy there, save your $$$ and go to different locations.

Big castle in the middle of town, with only some parts open for tourists. You buy your tickets in the tourist information located in the small courtyard. Then you can go on top of the tower with good views (that's one of at least three viewing towers in Szczecin town center, all with rather similar views). Your ticket gets you also to castle museum in an east wing, than you can go to the permanent/temporary exhibitions located all over castle (in small settings), than there's a crypt available free of charge, but open in summer only. Big courtyard is taken for a stage, when some live gigs and other events take place in warmer part of year.

This is a nice jewel in the Old City in Szczecin. It is a nice "time-travel" to cross the busy motorway and pop up in an ancient era. When we visited - the courtyard was being kitted out for a rock concert. Also 2 pairs of happy couples (Bride and Groom) were walking the streets along with a photographer taking pictures.

A vibrant part of the city crowned by the Castle of the Dukes.

The castle is being renovated. You can see the outside but most of the inside are offices, event venues and a small museum.
