The building itself has the potential to become a world famous club, its simply perfect for the post-industrial electronic music culture. 4 floors in a concrete block with no windows. Sadly, the music when we were there was mostly mainstream pop and simple stuff which wasn't worth paying an entrance price to hear. The drinks were not expensive.

A lot better than expected. Went Friday night but reached quite early. Outside looked like an abandoned building site so was very surprised-when I went in and saw there was actually a great vibe inside. Music ok and changed from techno to reggae etc so they play music for all which I quite liked. Drinks were relatively cheap as well and service from the bar good.

Great interior, every floor has it's own theme. You have to see it. War and prison... And the drink's are not too expensive either..

Went there on a Friday night around 11:00 pm.
Was stopped at the door by a young woman who told me it was a 'closed party'.
I asked politely what that meant. She said that I could not come in, only people she knew. Just then a couple walked past her and went in. As she did not talk to them or even acknowledge them I realised that this was in fact a deceit. I asked why I had been refused entry as what she was saying was clearly not correct.
I was totally sober, having had two beers all evening with my meal and was well dressed so I did not understand. She refused to supply an answer just said that she could refuse entry to whoever she wanted.
When I suggested that what she was doing was discriminating against older customers (I am 57) she would not reply. I asked what the entry policy was...again no answer.
When I tried to take a picture of the entrance I was attacked by the bouncers, my phone knocked to the ground and sprayed with pepper spray.
Needless to say I left.
I urge any traveller to the region to boycott this place.

As we are in Gdansk, we looked up a good place to have a few drinks and reading the reviews, decided that Bunkier would be a good place to visit.

Our first interaction was with the cloakroom attendant who advised that we would all have to hand in our coats, as they were not allowed and the club was set at ‘the perfect temperature’. This wasn’t our preferred option but we agreed to hand them in, pay the 2pzl fee (no complaints) and head in.

The building itself is dark with a great lighting design which when full, I think would be fantastic and warm with a great atmosphere. However as it was 9pm on a Tuesday night, it was very empty and obviously, with a concrete design, actually quite cold.

None the less, we ventured deep into the building, found a bar and steampunk themed booth, sat down and had a good time, laughing and chatting with our friends. Yes we were being loud, but there was hardly anyone else in the bar so we will have stuck out.

After another round, it was noticeable that we were all quite cold, so I went downstairs to the cloakroom to speak with the attendant who originally argued that we could not take our coats in. After chatting, she admitted that it was colder than normal due to the lack of people inside so agreed we could take our coats in. 4 of us then proceeded to go and claim our coats.

With two of us remaining in the booth, my friend leant back on his chair (as you do with a chair) at which point the backrest gave way and broke off. Please note, we were neither drunk nor boisterous, however our reaction was to laugh at the situation (which I think most people would).

As we stood up to leave, we approached the girl behind the bar to advise about the chair that had broken (who had been lovely from the start to the end of our visit). Before being able to do so, a male member of staff approached me, and being quite aggressive, blocked our path and asked how I was going to fix the chair that I had broken. I asked what he meant, as I hadn’t broken the chair, to which he replied in a more aggressive manner that he saw me and again asked how I was going to fix it.

My friend advised that it was him who broke the chair and that it was an accident and he could check the cctv cameras but the male member of staff stated that he wasn’t bothered and we had to fix it - we asked to speak to management who he phoned and the advised us that we would have to pay 200plz to replace the chair. Again, we advised that as it was an accident and again asked for them to check the cctv. This was also rejected.

The male member of staff then asked about one of our group of the problem was if he paid, would he not be able to feed his children?? A somewhat childish and petulant statement.

He then said that if we did not pay, we would not get our remaining coats and bags and then walked off to the cloakroom.

After following him to the cloakroom, 3 large bouncers appeared and blocked us in the corridor, it became apparent that there may be trouble if we didn’t pay so we unhappily got our possessions, paid the arrogant bar staff and left.

If it wasn’t for the arrogant, pretentious staff, this place could be so much better. Because they are though, it has been a let down.

Never again unfortunately - such a shame.

Staff are rude and charge you extra when they realise you’re a tourist. Avoid this wannabe cool club. Nothing on New York, London, Berlin....

and avoid getting involved in rounds of vodka shots. The decor and setting is brilliant. Set inside an old windowless multistory Nazi bunker. It is provacative, and the gents toilet has upset some feminists and christians. Beware of trip hazards though. They appear to be designed to bring drunk Englishmen to crashing into the floor. Staff friendly. Just don't challenge a stag night of Poles to a drinking match.

After seeing the building during the day, my girlfriend and I were very interested to have a look inside and see what the Bunkier had to offer. I myself work for nightclubs back where I'm from and enjoy attending a wide range of dance music events. The structure is an old WWII air raid shelter and provides a perfect environment to host a range of nightclub events.

Arriving at the club around 12pm on Saturday night there is not a lot going on outside, it's very easy to miss it at night time. Walking in we accidentally missed the desk at where you pay and the bouncer had to stop us and point us in the direction to pay at the desk. Once you pay you are allowed in. You'll not be given anything to say that you have paid so if you decide to leave, you'll not be allowed back in unless you pay.

On the bottom floor there is a bar with loads of seats, and then on the other floors there is two dance floors, a smoking area and then seats dotting all around the club.

At first around midnight there wasn't a huge crowd there but as the night went on it slowly grew. The music wasn't the best as it felt it was cheesy and old in both rooms. We struggled to find a room we enjoyed, in the end we had to settle for the room that was the least worst of the two. The visuals on the dancefloor were also poor and could do with an upgrade which would really improve the feel of the club. The club itself was very stuffy and could do with improving the air con and air flow. As we weren't stamped we couldn't leave for air, once you enter, you won't be feeling the fresh air until you leave. Another improvement would be having an area that was outside, maybe on the roof as a roof top bar.

Overall I didn't enjoy too much but it was definitely worth the trip for a drink and a look round the building.

The bar was nice and the bartenders were friendly (if you were buying). However that all stopped when I was asking around for a lost keys on the next day. Bouncer was aggressive and couldn't speak english. After a half an hour debate with the bouncer and the cloakroom lady, no-one inside the bar knew anything about lost items. No contacts, no info, no nothing.

Don't lose your stuff in there. They wont be helping you.

Probably my favourite bar in Gdansk. It looks a bit intimidating from the outside. No bouncers, no windows, just a grim block on a backstreet away from the centre. We went on a musicians jm night and it was great. The beer isn't the best so might be best to drink bottles but definitely check it out.
