Never seen an opera before, even with English surtitles. I was trying to look for something to do on a quiet Sunday evening and found that this Opera House was performing La Traviata - which I’d heard was a very good opera for beginners to see. Even with the Polish surtitles, it was simple to follow some form of plot through the incredible ability of all on stage. The programme also contained an English act-by-act synopsis which helped greatly too! Most of the staff I encountered didn’t know any or much English, but we were all very patient to ensure that we were able to understand the jist of the conversations.

Whenever I think back on my trip to Gdansk, this wonderful opera house will be at the forefront of my happy memories. My friend and I were strolling around the city centre when we saw a poster promoting a production of Tosca. Excitedly, we decided to try and get tickets. Unfortunately, the venue doesn't have an online booking service; but we were told that it would be possible to get tickets from the box office. So immediately we set off on the lengthy tram ride to the venue. Our plans were dashed, however, to learn that the production was sold out. But the incredibly kind woman who dealt with us at the box office said she would try and sort out seats for us. She duly did. And later that day we found ourselves watching and listening to an awesome production of Tosca. I loved every melodramatic second of it. Nice acoustics, comfy hall. An unforgettable experience. Italian operatic genius; Polish kindness.

Recently, I have visited Opera Baltycka on performance "Maria" by Polish composer Roman Statkowski. It was my first visit in this opera house. I have to write that it's not look as big and magnificent like Opera Wroclawska or National Opera in Warsaw but it's interesting inside. The performance was great and I liked it a lot! It was a beautiful story made very modern, with excellent video visual presentations. The music was so beautiful! However, the biggest minus I have to add is for the high stairs to the cloakroom and toilets which are located undergrond floor. For the disabled person it's impossible to get there! And there is no lift inside. Anyway, it's really worth to visit!

It was not my first visit here. Actually I was many times here to watch some performances. There are of course more magnificient opera buildings in the world but you can count here for sure for nice service.

I saw there was an opera house and they were performing on the night I was in town so I booked a ticket. It is an ok place and I like that I went. I thought it may have been translated yet it was not so I did not understand much. Glad to say that I tried it.

Opera was in Polish so couldn't understand the dialogues, but enjoyed it nevertheless. It only lasted for 1.5 hours though
