Beautiful fountain in the main street
One of main attractions you cannot miss while walking the main Dluga street. It's set right by the imposing old Town Hall tower. The fountain is dedicated to Sea God Neptune, built in 17 c and beautifully restored.

The king of the seas 🌊 who dominates the square
The Neptune Fountain ⛲️🔱 undoubtedly represents one of the most iconic attractions in the center of Gdansk. Commissioned by the mayor Bartlomiej Schachmann at the beginning of the 17th century, it was then built between 1606 and 1615 by Peter Husen and Johann Rogge based on a design by Abraham van den Blocke. The work, which attests to the link between the city and the sea, is inspired by the homologous monument present in Bologna, since Bartlomiej Schachmann himself was fascinated by it during a trip to the Emilian capital. A century later, the rococo style decorations ⚜️ and the perimeter gate were added. The artefact, made of bronze and placed on a pedestal above the upper basin, represents the Greco-Roman deity protector of the seas and oceans 🌊. The water 💧 flows from four lion heads 🦁 which surround the upper basin, then feeding the lower one (characterised by a peculiar quadrilobe section). During our recent weekend in the city we passed by it 🚶🏻‍♂️🚶🏻‍♀️ numerous times without ever stopping there, except on the last evening to take some souvenir photos 📸. The lighting is certainly effective, with the light projected from the bottom upwards thanks to spotlights 💡 presumably installed inside the main tank. Finally, I would like to point out that, in the early afternoon of Sunday, a curious demonstration/party was taking place around the fountain ⛲️ complete with a musical band 🎶🎷🎺🎻 lined up in front of the Dwór Artusa (Arthur's Court) 🏫; I didn't understand what it was about but many people were wearing yellow t-shirts 🟡 and handing out flowers of the same color 🌼🏵. When passing through the area, a stop is a must.

Neptune's Fountain (Fontanna Neptuna) Dlugi Targ
Neptune's Fountain (Fontanna Neptuna) Dlugi Targ - a beautiful city fountain located on the Long Market. The water was refreshing. It was installed in front of the Artus Court in 1633. The Kashubians call the figure Krësztof.

    Fountain in the Old Town
This is one of the prettiest features in the old city and should not be missed. It is easy to see, in the center of the square when you first enter the old town, very large. Lots of people gather here, lots of photos. From another era, adds to the charm of the old town.

    Pretty fountain
The Neptune fountain is a very pretty fountain on Dluga Street. It's usually crowded, and if there is an event going on, they set up tents right in front of it, but you can generally get a nice picture since it's big. Recommended to see if you are on Dluga Street.

One of the most characteristic places of Gdansk, located near the famous King Arthur's Court, at the Long Market. A beautiful statue of the God of the Seas, considered on a par with the Crane as a symbol of Gdansk. The design of the figure representing Neptune was created by the architect and sculptor Abraham van den Blocke. The model of the figure was made by Peter Husen. The sculpture was cast in bronze in 1612 , in the municipal foundry in Gdansk. The figure weighs 650 kg. The bowl and the stem on which the statue stands are also authored by Abraham van den Blocke. A piece of history in a beautiful package. You can't be in Gdansk and not see Neptune. The Neptune Fountain is an icon of Gdansk. It is a' ' must see'' on the tourist map of Gdansk.

If you are in Gdansk you must see it. Try to be there at early morning or late evening. Early morning you skip the crowds of tourists. Late evening gives you the best light! Midday is also okey but expect a lot of people trying to make selfie with The God of Oceans!

If you walk down the main historical street of Gdańsk you will not miss the Neptune Statue. Considering the seafaring history of the city, it also makes sense to celebrate Neptune. This statue is right under the picturesque tower of the old city hall making it a great picture both at night or in the day time. You don’t really have to go out of your way to see this…if you do any sort of sightseeing, you will encounter it.

Neptune's Fountain is a nice fountain located in the middle of the long market near the old town hall. Across from here you can also find a monument for Fahrenheit. The fountain has a few cafes, shops and restaurants nearby but some of them can be a little pricey so you may want to check the next street over. You can take some pretty good pictures here and there are walking tours that start in the area.

Gdansk sits on the Baltic and was a prominent city in the Hanseatic League. (Never heard of the "Hanseatic League"? It is the namesake of Germany's airline Lufthansa, the air service of the Hanse) The fountain channels Gdansk's long seafaring tradition

Nice spot in Gdańsk. It is located in front of the Main Town Hall and it's still surrounded by lots of people taking pictures here.

Neptune (the god of the sea) is placed facing the townhouses, which were the residence of the Polish kings and his head is bowed as a sign of reverence and humility to them.

There is a reason why people line up or crowd here for a picture. The fountain and the surroundings are simple awesome. We were lucky that we stay very close to the long street and come here at 8am to take our picture when there was literally no one. Relax and enjoy the place and the surrounding. Gdansk is breathtaking.

Neptune - in Roman mythology, the god of waters, clouds and rain, counterpart of the Greek Poseidon, god of the sea. Neptune's attribute was the trident. Worshipped together with a female deity called Salation or Venilia (identified with the Greek Amphitrite, Poseidon's wife in Greek mythology), as for me it fits very well here as the waterfront is seriously close and this symbol seems appropriate ;)

The city landmark located in the from of the Artus Court, constructed in the early 17th century. Nicely lit at night. The fountain survived the World War II intact. At Christmas the decorated tree stands next to it.

Love Neptunes Fountain in Gdańsk! It is very photogenic from numerous angels with different backgrounds. It is also a major site in central Gdańsk - most souvenir shops sell mini replicas of Neptune.
