The current exhibition is a good view of the local history and traditions. Quite small but worth a look if you have some spare time in Uherske Hradiste.

This place really shows how museums in Czech Republic had transformed in last decades. Interesting exhibitions for the whole family.

This museum has a new , modern display of a range of folk traditions. We went because i'm interested in the diversity of costumes in Moravia but this was much more. Some videos (with text in English and German as well as Czech) and then a well presented display of traditional agriculture and folk lore.

Slovácko is a region between Moravia (eastern part of Czech Republic) and Slovakia, and it has a lovely folk culture. The museum is small, but has a nice, colorful presentation of ethnographic collection.

It is well organized, describing the life in Slovácko from birth, through the everyday life, the wedding, other feasts till the very end of death and funeral rites. The exhibits are from the 19th and 20th centuries, with part being reconstructions.

Part of the exhibits are available for the visitors to touch. The exhibition is equiped with audio recordings, which make the true atmosphere, and you can also watch several video recordings and documentaries (Czech and English), part in the small cinema in front of the exhibition, part inside it.

If you leave all videos away, it would take just some 20 minutes to see it all, watching the videos makes the visit longer.

The ground floor hall offers temporary exhibitions.

Seeing the craft tools or dishes is nice, but there are other true highlights of the exhibition: The national costumes, carnival masks and decorated costumes for the Ride of Kings, the very special type of local feast, taking place in last four places in the region every year in May or June.

You won't spend there much time, but you will enjoy it.

------------

Exponáty pocházejí z 19. a 20. století.

Část exponátů mohou návštěvníci prozkoumat i hmatem.

I love islands for thein specific characters and probably for the same reason I love regions on the border. Slovacke museum is a great example of an island sui genesis and the edge location too. Situated in the park forms an island of culture in the sea of green. Before entering the permanent exposition rich in ethnographic material visitors have a chance to learn about subregions of Moravian Slovakia, oh, there are so many microborders! A short representative slideshow illustrates each subregion including typical songs. The ethnographic exposition was open in 2014 allows to study and understand the country life in the past. You can test what you have learned there as the traditional artefacts are supported by electronic media. Good luck, have fun.
