Well done science center
Jul 2019 • Family
This was 5th center we visited so far. Great experience. Well organized. Not queues in front of each experiment. The most impressive experiment for me - the magnetic fluids. Really WOW. The "children world" in the same building also recommended for children below 6. Also worth to mention the cafeteria with very extended lunch menu.

Superb place to visit

Take your children and let them drag you from one attraction to another. They will without mistake spot what is the most important thing to do. And be sure that you will enjoy the place as well.

Definitely something to do in this area and the kids will love it (especially if they’re into science or technology) and also a great stop if it’s raining outside.

Not just for the kids!

There are 2 Science and Technology centers - The big one and the small one (U6). We visited both of them however not in one day - I think it's impossible to do it in one day if you really want to go through all of sections. We had so much fun, everything was interactive, educational and I had feeling that I'm kid again:) After couple of hours we were really exhausted but it was definitely worth it!

Great area for young kids - safe and fascinating!

I don't know the name of this section but it's on the left as you go in the main entrance and it was perfect for my 5 and 2 year old kids. There is more to Svet Techniky but we haven't been there yet.

There are a lot of interactive displays and your ticket lets you in for an hour, which is enough time to do everything twice, at least. There is a break between each session while the staff clean up and reorganise everything for the next group. When it's busy, you might have to wait because the next available time-slot after you arrive might be fully booked. The numebr of people allowed in each section is nicely limited so that the activities are not crowded.

Kids can play musical instruments, build mechanical gear systems, operate model diggers in a sandpit, a model crane with foam bricks to move up into a model construction area, run around a climbing/play area, play with water, swing around on ropes and generally see how everything works while they are doing it.

All the activities are safe and you can let your kids run off and do their own thing. It is quite a small area and the doors are closed when you are in there, so you can't lose your kids. I saw many fathers without their kids just playing with the mechanical exhibits, so it's good for old kids as well as young ones!

My 2 especially enjoyed the 'Water Cycle' exhibit. A channel runs from a higher to a lower level in a circle before the water is pumped up to the higher level again. As it goes round, you can use prepared wood and metal shapes to build dams and channels to float wooden boats on. They provide nylon coats but everyone gets wet anyway!

Everything is hands-on and visual. There are no instructions to try and read if you don't speak Czech so it's great for visitors from all countries.

It's also close to the city centre, so you can walk there or take a tram - no need to rent a car.

The whole of Dolni Oblast Vitkovice (Lower Vitkovice Area) is a fantastic living monument to technology and industry but the kids area of Svet Techniky is a wonderful place to start with young kids.

You could easily spend half a day or more here, even if you're an adult without kids.
I spent about three hours here, totally exhausted myself (in a good way) with trying all the interactive and very engaging experiments the museum has to offer, and left after seeing about half of the museum - there's really so many things here that it's quite possible you will fill your mind well before seeing everything.

Highly recommended, this is a very well organized, informative, often thought-provoking museum.
