It is a very well presented collection with most objects labelled in very good English as well as Czech. The Archbishop of Olomouc was a major political player in European history and this museum really allows you to understand the roots of his power. The volunteer ladies appear somewhat stern but are actually very friendly and willing to help although they do not all speak English.

This museum was surprisingly well translated and had plenty of English to enable you to understand the history of the area. Although it’s better to come here between May to September where everything is open to the public, it was also great to see most of the exhibits with much less people. The curators in each room were super friendly which is a first for me and very eager and willing to speak with you albeit with what little English some of them possess. Really appreciated the attentive service which you probably will only receive during off peak so there’s pros and cons on when you come. Fantastic collection.

The building itself is worth the visit, and the women who "guard" it are so proud of it. It really is worth the time. Many interesting painting (mostly Italian late Mannerist). But notice the floors, ceilings, doors. No English spoken, but it doesn't matter because there's a genuine will to communicate and great pride in this treasure.

Really enjoyed wandering round the building - the way being pointed out by a large team of mature Czech ladies. Some of the art was very impressive, if the net result of seeing so many crucifixion scenes was a bit gruelling.

I am local patriot, …. but if I can spread the experiencies of my friends from other part of Czechia or Europe or the rest of world, that is one of the best and pleasant suprise of their visit of Olomouc. It is a perfect combination of medieval architecture, with modern reconstruction, collection of religious artefacts, awesome golden archiepiscopal coach, contemporary exhition etc. etc.
It is on the same place as St. Wencel Cathedral and Roman Bishop Palais.

In this winter time we were told to come back for our coats if we were cold at the cloak room... I assume they keep it cooler for the art pieces to keep them safer for longer.
But there is an impressive history waiting for you and religious objects.
We went here as bought combined ticket at the Modern art museum which worked out cheap and worth the time.

this museum has several changing exhibitions as well as a permanent collection, both of which are well worth a visit. for my recent visit there was a rare el Greco to see as well as a whole related display. the permanent exhibits are well worth seeing in themselves and cover a wide range in quite a small area. the staff are (as is usual in Czech) totally accommodating and friendly, the entrance very reasonable, and the museum very easily accessed with the tram or on foot from the main square. all in all a happy discovery as it is next to the town's impressive cathedral, which is well worth a visit in itself.

The museum is residing in the formal Olomouc Castle and is absolutely stunning with good collection of exhibits in Treasure House, Art Gallery and the sculptures galleries. The carriage displayed in one of the room was particularly impressive and captured a lot of attention of the visitors.

it was Sunday during my visit and i was entitled for the free admission to the museum(added bonus to visit in Sunday). It is located right beside the St Wenceslas Cathedral and obviously it does make sense to visit these sites together.

The museum staff were very helpful despite challenges in communicating in English. I enjoyed the tour very much.

This delightful museum is staffed by charming older people, predominantly women, whose lack of English is made unimportant by their enthusiasm.

An audio guide explains all the necessary information and I became completely engrossed by the age of the building, the artwork, jewels and the history.

A MUST to see if you are in Olomouc!

i got the audio guide and found it very helpful. I loved the juxtaposition of the old ruins against the modern concrete. Apparently the golden coach which is the first exhibit you see was used in the film ' Amedeus' . this museum is a lovely quiet place to escape the midday heat for a few hours, the audio guide also makes it very interesting too.
