The theatre was opened in 1965, that time the largest and most modern theatre in Czechia. We had a Tosca opera performance with very good voices and interesting regie.

November 11 means the perfect time to open the theatre after the reconstruction. The best way was to begin with the opera Kata Kabanova composed by Leos Janacek. The libretto was created based on the drama Storm written by Alexandr Nikolajevic Ostrovskij. Music was fantastic and the scene/ set design was absolutely great. Bravo!

The seats are large and comfortable. The only negative was the service at the refreshment stations at break times...they needed more staff to serve, as there were long queues and ultimately had to gulp down the drink as te break was short.

My husband and I attended "Hubicka" which means kiss, a 140 year old opera first premiered in Prague. We, unfortunately, were way underdressed for the occasion in our traveling clothes. Big auditorium which was mostly full on a Thursday night. A pit orchestra accompanied the fine performance. I didn't much care for the stage setting but that's personal taste. The women's room is too small for this venue with a long line out the door extending into the lobby even after most of the people had left. The lobby is huge and elegant, and the coat check very efficient and free. What a joy it was to walk out into the night and see the wonderful water feature on the grounds.

Visited yesterday for "Prodana nevesta" opera. We were impressed by not only the cultural experience we had, but by the architecture of the building and design inside as well. The garage parking connected with the theater by elevator was very convenient. We will visit again when in Brno in coming future.
