Astronomy is the science that fascinates people of all ages. I love to visit the programmes of the planetarium both with friends and alone too. It is always wise to make a reservation in advance as the performances are very popular. The Exploratorium is open free of charge and visitors can admire the beauty of nebulas.

We've visited the digitarium when the Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd was played. Breathtaking experience, the projection on the whole ceiling of the digitarium was in great quality and very enjoyable. You can also put your seat into a lying position, which is veeery comfy. And outside of the observatory, there were 5 big models of planets scattered around the park where the observatory is located. The models are awesome and you can make some brilliant photos. Unfortunately, they're on display like 1 or 2 weeks per year, but I understand that it's very costly and logistically difficult. However, if you are able to, plan a trip here while the planets are displayed, it's worth it. It's usually in summer, and you can always find the latest info on the observatory Facebook page. (If the weather is really bad, the planets are not on display as they are outside, so it's worth checking).

Tripadviser is the portal for fans of travelling worldwide. While in Brno you can travel further on as the Brno Observatory and Plantetarium can take you to the universe, to the Moon, to Mars, to many star nebulas. Concerning the pandemic situation and summer time visitors had an excellent opportunity to be (almost) in touch with objects that are hard to reach. I was lucky to be close to Mars and happy feeling enjoyed my friend Mirka as well. There was also a chance to watch a film including an intergalactic travelling topic. There are parts open to public free of charge, I mean the exploratorium plus the outside astro path. Have fun and upgrade your knowledge at the same time.

Summer time is the best time to become star observer at least being located in Europe. In Brno you could observe the SUN model decorating the place nearby the Observatory and Planetarium. Mr Dusek, the manager, lifted up his light sword and enjoyed the gathering of owners of light swords in Brno including kids and seniors too. You should have been with us!

The Brno observatory followed its lucky star and decided to promote planets and other universal objects in the way undestandable to everyone, via models. The event is named the Festival of planets no matter there is also the model of Moon. People of any age come and discover the beauty of the Earth both in day and at night, the planet Mars and the closest star the Sun. Apart the big balls navigating you to the planetarium you will find out the crashed unidentified flying object, realm of nembulae, chance to see a film in the open air cinema. Festive days in summer are fantastic, but do not worry if you plan to come in winter, there is always something thrilling, new and interesting. Just go and discover the macrocosmos and find yourself. Take your friends with you, the more, the merrier.

Summer time is so great if you are nearby the Brno Observatory and Planetarium for the Festival of Planets takes place. Big models of Terralona (the Earth), Lunalona (the Moon) and other space objects are presented to be admired and studied. It is fantastic performance at the day light and even better at night. If you miss it, do not cry, there are plenty of other programmes to be enjoyed.

I'm pretty interested in Astronomy, so was looking forward to visiting this place months in advance of our trip anyway! As other reviewers have said, it's really not geared up for foreigners. Over half of our time was spent listening to a guy speak Czech (they sold us the tickets to us knowing we couldn't speak Czech) whilst pointing out features on the night sky with a laser pointer, and the half that was in English was, somewhat bizarrely, not much to do with the night sky itself, but rather with observatories and with light pollution etc. Not deeply interesting.
We spent a good 20 minutes walking around in the stitching darkness through a park, just trying to find this place. It's not well sign-posted, and though it is close to a tram stop as the crow flies, there's no lighting in the park - so go during the day if you don't know the way already!
Unless they do something about the language barrier, I'd suggest that it's not worth going unless you can speak Czech.

I went in without knowing that much Czech, but the front desk worker was able to help me and I had a great experience. The planetarium show is really nice

I have been an astronomy nerd for as long as I can remember, so I visited countless astronomy museums, observatories and planetariums all over the globe. The Planetarium in Brno stands out is one of the most memorable.
The beautiful building sets the expectations high and the inside honours the tone set by the outside appearance. Although the exhibition is not overwhelmingly expansive, it is extremely well done and just enjoyable. The views from the windows and the friendly staff make your visit simply enjoyable.
The dome shows are usually very well done utilising the power of the new digital system in a meaningful way. And if you do not come for the show, they offer public talks or even artistic performances.
I genuinely recommend to include the planetarium on your plan if you are going to spend just a few days in Brno.

Although observatories are alike, this one is located close to public transport in a nice park. We have visited a 3D show we all are stars and it was very good including the introduction about a night sky and constellations.
