If you want really enjoy morning shopping at veg&fruit market " Zelny trh" its the best choice at Brno! Very wide variety of local farmers products, great prices, very friendly people,a lot of tables when you can try veg&fruit small pieces without payment! And if you have one hour time, we absolutelly recomend visit of underground Labyrinth-systems of cellars, tunnels and corridors unde Zelny trh. The entry is at house No.21, you can leave pram there, staff was very friendly and guard it, our son 4.5 yrs old and daughter 14 months were very excited!:-)

This square, literally "cabbage market" has served as a vegetable market since the middle ages, and has even kept its original sloping shape. Its main adornment is the Parnassus Fountain, which looks like a cave. Among the buildings lining the square are the Dietrichstein Palace (at the square's southern end), and the Reduta Theater, one of the oldest theaters in central Europe. And don't forget to visit the statue of Wolfgang Mozart with the head of an adult, and the body of a child. Mozart gave a concert here in front of the Reduta at age 11 in 1767.

More than one year there had been a reconstruction and the result is not very attractive. Well, perhaps nice place for stalls but in the afternoon when they disappear there is only a big nothing. Perhaps a little green - some tree, flowers - or a place for sitting and contemplating could have been included. It seems there is not many innovative thoughts in Brno to make the city more attractive both for locals and tourists.

This is a very popular square in my hometown, though not the biggest one. It is named after all the fresh ingrediences inevitable for any cook either professional or amateur. Local people love to buy farmers products there, not only cabbage or green herbs that smell so nice. Lovers have their dates near the Parnas fountain in the centre of the square. Brno inhabitants and tourists enjoy there time passing. While you are sipping coffee or wine never feel lonely as you are in a good company of legendary musicians - young Mozart and mature Janacek. Their music is the language understood by anybody, so get inspired. Who likes history, enter either the door of Moravian Museum or the underground labyrinth of mediavel cellars and corridors under the square. This place is a perfect cocktail of the past and present, join us and to become a part of its future.

Cheap and great place to buy local fruits and vegetables, very lively and colourful during the weekends. After the trading hours you'll get the chance to explore this beautiful historical place.

The square is lovely. There are historical buildings around, statues to wonder, and good restaurants and coffées. Every day there are fresh fruits, vegetables to buy from the stalls.

We'd have to disagree with a few recent reviewers who suggest that the square is ordinary.
At one end of the square is the beautiful art nouveau Hotel Grandezza (where we stayed), with its huge hand-painted glass ceiling and mosaics in the lobby. It the middle of the square is the Parnas Fountain, which dates from 1693-95 and at the other end of the square is the Centre of Experimental Theatre, which has a stunning sculpture of a woman sitting high up on a ledge. The square is also home to the Spalicek Restaurant, which is a great place to eat and watch the world go by.

The square is the home of local fruit and veg sales. Heaps of produce at inexpensive prices. It has a large beautiful fountain in the centre and interesting statues. Also has some coffee shops.

Here you can find the "belly" of Brno Town: fresh and mostly tasty fruit and vegetables, a great selection of flowers in the vincinity of Baroque fountain Parnas (designed by Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach). Lot of picturesque café´s around - you can sit and enjoy :-)

Very beautiful square in the old city. In the morning it is a green market, vibrant and lively, wile in the afternoon it becomes a place to walk around or sit in a cafe. It has beautiful fountain and several theatres including one where Mozart played as a child prodigy.
