Worth to visit!

Just only few kilometers from Brno. Nice castle surrounded by nature. The castle hasn't been reconstructed completely yet. Anyway, it looks great!

We took boat, it is cca 45 minute trip on lake. Castle is not in perfect condition. Many ongoing construction. Very limited opportunity to get lunch, only hot dogs and beer. Overall area is excellent for walk.

We took the boat option to get there, so the whole trip was more of an excursion. I enjoyed walking from the boat up the castle steps and around the battlements. Churchill took his wife here on their honeymoon. The views are great and we strolled down to a church along the road. It was shut but fun to walk... More

The castle is located in the vicinity of the mid part of the Brno artificial lake. Driving distance roughly 10 to 15 minutes from the high-way exit (Ostrovacice). There are two parking areas. One (the larger one) at the ground level of the castle and a smaller one at the mid level. The entrance fee is really moderate and the... More

An interesting old place -very photogenic. We visited as part of a lovely day spent around the lake and its surrounding area.

First, the name of the castle is "Hrad Veveří", not Statnim Hrade Veveri. It is located near Brno and the ideal way to come is by bus, car or - the best choice - by boat, which belongs to Brno public transportation. The trip will make a half of the impression as the castle itself may be disappointing. There is... More

We have not had enought time to visit the interiors, so the rating is for exteriors of the castle only. From a distance it looks fabulous, inside the castle walls, it is difiicult to say. Apparently some reconstruction works are on, but the buildings looks quite shabby and somehow abandoned. May be the interiors would change my oppinion, definitely will... More

This place is about 90 minutes out of Brno by public transportation. Note that a couple of tram lines, 1 and 3, are not operating out here at the moment. There is a boat that goes up Brno Lake from the tram stop to the castle. There is also a bus from the tram stop as well. There is some... More

Really enjoyed our trip with some Czech freinds to the castle, abuse over the last 60 years is very slowly being put right and I hope that they can get back some of the missing furniture and paintings. This combined with the boat trip from Brno makes a geat day out

Whoever likes taking long walks, should not miss this one regardless of the season (summer, winter etc). Take the tram to the lake and walk the path all the way from the tram stop, to the bridge opposite the castle and from there to the castle. There are other tracks to follow but this is the best one.
