- Sanne KKrakow, Poland12 contributionsTop hospitality, amazing daytour!A visit to the battlefield of Austerlitz was high on my bucketlist. So my expectations were pretty high. We were extremely lucky to find Helen Svedova, who drove us around in her comfortable car and guided us through the area. Professional, knowledgeable, flexible, relaxed. She knows the battlefield like her backpocket, effortlessly indicating all famous (and less known) sites, sprinkling them with interesting little anecdotes. She really went beyond what you may expect from a guide, showing us so much hospitality during our visit to Moravia.Visited June 2021Traveled as a coupleWritten July 10, 2021
- SchalbiVillars-sur-Glane, Switzerland35 contributionsAn amazing Historical dayWe spent an exceptional day walking through the footsteps of Napoleon and his troops; in those of the Austrians and Russians. Helena's presentation is captivating, whether you are a curious military man, my husband, or an ordinary tourist like me. Moreover, she made us understand and know more about the Czech people and their history. Always attentive, she regularly asks if we continue, if we stop, if we want a coffee... A wonderful day and a memorable souvenir. Thank you Helena. Anne-Laure and Christophe, SwitzerlandVisited July 2022Traveled as a coupleWritten July 30, 2022
- Ali R2 contributionsIncredible, comprehensive tour!I had a fantastic time with Helena on the tour of this humongous battlefield! She was friendly, had great stories and really knew how to paint the scene for the battle information. It was definitely comprehensive - so many stops, which I appreciated - and left me with a clear picture of how the battle happened. I also recommend the museum and chapel, as that was definitely different and cool! Thanks Helena!Visited April 2023Traveled soloWritten April 14, 2023

Our party consisted of 2 military history fans and my wife. We all thoroughly enjoyed it.
Helena is a great guide with a passionate love of her home town and the Moravian region.
The all day tour encompassed not just the entire battlefield but, in our case, also a tour of the city. There were good comfort and meal breaks as well as a visit to the museum in town of Austerlitz.
We military history fans loved seeing what we had only read about over the years. My wife enjoyed the city, the countryside, and all of the little towns and villages.
Thoroughly recommended!

A very good alternative to visit in one day the most significant places of the Battle of Austerlitz. Helena was an attentive guide throughout the tour, giving multiple details not only of the battle but also of the country and its inhabitants. All enriched by the visit to two thematic museums and the beautiful Slavkov Castle. Indispensable!

There can be no better and more knowledgeable guide to escort you across the vast battlefield than Helena. Knowledgeable, personable, funny, and just an all around nice and interesting person she is the consummate tour guide. Together we spent six hours driving and walking around the Austerlitz battlefield. The tour included every main point and some hard to get places such as St. Anthony of Padua Chapel. I wholeheartedly recommend touring the battlefield with Helena.
A couple of key points -
Helena is prompt. Our toured starred at 9 AM and she was there and waiting.
Wear good walking shoes. You get of the car and need to walk to many amazing sights.
Santon Hill is a little bit of a climb. Not too much and Helena will let you know but well worth the climb.
Helena will go really wherever you want to go or stay as long as you want, anywhere. It is your tour and she is great with this.
Helena offered to stop at the local brewery in Sokolnice, I was tried and passed. That may have been a mistake.

My son and I drove from central Italy to Brno to visit the Austerlitz battlefield. My 11 year old son had prepared for a year in advance (his sustained and manifest interest were the real motive for our 13 hour drive), and wasn't looking for an expert who could educate him on the battle in a day. He already had a rather synoptic vision of events. It was a lay pilgrimage of sorts to see the spot (topography) where it all occurred, and thereby get a more nuanced understanding of how events unfolded on that day.
We had a splendid day. Helena was very well informed without ever being pedantic. The whole day was one intelligent and sweeping movement from Napoleon's left to his right. The whole tour had us out for nine hours (we never tired). Helena was friendly and competent throughout the whole, and never hinted at being tired or bored with us. It was a very special day for our family, and much of that was due to Helena's competence and organization. The boy thanks you Helena.

Hands down the best battlefield tour I have ever taken. I did a similar tour of the Gettysburg Battlefield where a tour guide drove us around but Helena's was much more detailed. Helena Svedova picked me up at the Brno train station and spent the entire day driving me around the battlefield and museums. My undergrad degree is in Military History with a focus on Napoleonic History so I was interested in every detail of the battle and the terrain and Helena did not disappoint. I learned an incredible amount from her and got to see everything I could have wanted to.
The highlights of the trip were getting to see the room where Napoleon and his Marshalls planned the battle, the observation point where Napoleon coordinated the battle, the Pratzen heights, and the 2 museums. Definitely wear walking shoes and make sure you have a camera. I'd also recommend bringing a water bottle.
If you are in the area and have any interest in military history or even if you just want to check out a beautiful area that just happens to be an important historical site I cannot recommend this tour enough. Helena spent 7 hours showing me every inch of the battlefield and seemed to really enjoy teaching me about both the battle and the Czech Republic. I'm sure you could do an abbreviated tour in 3-4 hours but if you have the time it is absolutely worth it to spend the whole day. While I did the tour by myself and am a self described history nerd, I am sure Helena would do a great job with families as well.

As long-time students of the Napoleonic wars, my wife and I enjoyed an excellent detailed tour of the historic 1805 battlefield of Austerlitz two weeks ago with Helena. She is an amazing and knowledgeable guide who is familiar with the battlefield and history of the battle. I appreciated that she customized the tour to my specific desires to see where the battle began at Telnitz (Telnice) and Sokolnitz Castle (Sokolnice), with visits as well to Napoleon's HQ site at the Zuran (Žuráň) hill and the French artillery emplacements at Santon hill. We visited two museums with a wonderful collection of period militaria as well as excellent diorama displays of the battle. Helena brought along maps and reference materials which helped us orient ourselves on the field as we traversed the landscape. We enjoyed a pleasant visit with Napoleonic era re-enactors (who were visiting that day for a school group) at the historic Posoritz Post House (Stará pošta) where Napoleon spent the night after the battle. We were able to visit the Austerlitz Chateau in Slavkov u Brna where Napoleon eventually established his HQ the day after the battle. Our walk along the Pratzen (Prace) Heights where intense fighting took place was very informative of the nature of the terrain. The tour exceeded our expectations in every way!! It was a beautiful day and the views at the battlefield are largely unchanged after 200 years. Helena very helpfully answered our questions about life today in the Czech Republic as this was our first visit to her country. Thank you, Helena, for a very memorable visit!!!

Helena was an amazing and gracious tour guide. She is very knowledgeable about the battlefield and customizes the tour to you. She also took the time to discuss Czech culture and offer other touring suggestions for other cities. This was a great way to start our my visit to the country.

I had the opportunity to spend the day with Helena learning about the Battle of Austerlitz. Helena provided a fantastic tour throughout the areas where the battle unfolded. In each area, she offered insight both verbal and through the use of maps reflecting where each of the participating armies were positioned and moved throughout the course of the battle. We visited two museums during the day that added to the understanding of the battle and were both full of items that were preserved. Two other stops included the tavern where Napoleon celebrated victory and where the treaty was negotiated. Excellent day that exceeded expectations. Thank you.
