Ghost town

A ghost town with a lot of history, the ghetto museum has a very informative film, which tells everything you need to know.

Approaching Terezin from the east you come first to the Small Fortress which housed a Nazi concentration camp. It's massive, and the inevitable reaction is, "Why is this called the Small Fortress?". Then, when you continue to the town proper, you realise why: the town is inside a much larger, star-shaped fortress. The fortifications are not unlike those in places... More

The fact that you're in the city where the prisoners were being held is impresive, at the same time the city/town itself is not to impressive anymore (besides the museums). Not well preserved and not to many people living there (for a reason obviously).

During our visit to the well laid out museum, because of the predominately German schoolchildren present, we had to have the film in the German language. Pity they were too busy playing with their mobile phones to take any notice to the sombre history being portrayed before them

This was part of a tour and gave a chance to learn more about the way people lived and tried to survive in very bad conditions. The crematorium was definitely worth a visit as was the museum and the dormitory. However, more time could be devoted to this part of the tour. The first stop at the museum comes after... More

If you have a tour guide don't forget to remind him to stop in collumbarium and mortuary and hidden synagogue! On the way back to Prague to make a turn from main road to spot where nazis gave order to throw the ashes to the river. My hotel friends never seen this with tour company they've chosen! Five or even... More

If you are planning to come here without a specialised guide.. you'll end up wandering around seeing not even half of Terezin-large fortress. Famous companies offer quick tours visiting only Ghetto museum and crematorium with Jewish cemetery. There is lot more to see! Hidden synagogue, Magdeburg barracks, Columbarium, mortuary, former train station, spot along the river where the Nazis got... More

All the people in the world should visit a place like this. Why? To remember those who had go through this place and the most of them did not come back home to their families. You will learn more about the history and more about the life.

This is a site for those who wish to learn more and there is so much to learn. Visit both the small and main fortress for a full view of what happened in this place. You will be moved.
