After having visited the great brewery taproom in Staropramen Brewery and walking around the brewery complex I viewed in the distance one of the most beautiful churches in Prague namely Basilica Of St Peter And St Paul.
Founded by the Czech king ,King Vratislaw II between 1070-1080 and originally built in the Romanesque style of architecture ,in 1249 this basilica suffered a fire and was subsequently rebuilt in the Gothic style of architecture ,the standout features of the basilica are the 58 metre towers ,it's one of the landmark buildings of the Vysehrad District,it's easy to locate along Rotunde and most definitely well worth checking out .

Situated in Vysehrad the old fortress on a hillside in a bend in the river it is seen from miles around. It looked very impressive from the outside and a very well kept graveyard alongside it.
I didn't go in because I refuse to pay to enter a place of worship, I always like to go in and light a candle and leave a donation. Looking through the window, it was small but very nice interior

The best views of Prague can be enjoyed in the Basilica gardens. On a good day you can even catch the rays of the Sun in your pictures.

The most interesting objective in Vysehrad. Richly decorated, stained glass, everything very beautiful! There is also a small museum with cult objects inside.

Worth a visit on your trip to Prague. The walk up the Basilica is beautiful. If you are coming from the center of Prague, walk to the river and up the river bank. Enjoyable walk, great places to stop and eat along the way.

The basilica of St. Peter and Paul is beautiful. Long history with destruction and reconstruction. Amazing artifacts inside the basilica as well.

Make sure to take time to visit the cemetery where a lot of famous Czech's are buried.

Lots of history here. Going back centuries. Church was rebuilt after the fire.
It is quite unique inside. Almost every inch of the walls and ceiling is hand painted.
The stained glass windows, the church bells ringing every hour.

It is definitely worth it to pay the small entrance fee to view the artwork in the church, and the extraordinary decorative details .

We visited the basilica and the adjacent cemetery this evening. The detailed paintings of many different Saints are fantastic to study and enjoy; so much detail and expression in these characters. The stained glass windows in the setting sun are wonderful to enjoy. There were not many visitors while we were there on a Sunday evening. The entrance cost is 90 czk (currently-$4). The statuary and carved alter pieces depict the life of the Savior; his mission and resurrection. After visiting the basilica spend some time in the cemetery to appreciate the unique head stones of those buried there. There is an audio guide you can download from app stores is you have phone service. Also next to the church is a fantastic view of the Vltava River and surrounding area from the old battlement walls.

This church is a bit off the beaten path but I would have to put this on the list if visiting Prague. The Vysehrad area is a must-see area of Prague. I found this area to be a place of solitude and relaxation in a hectic and crowded city. The sightseeing around the area itself is very beautiful but the Basilica is spectacular.

If you make the effort to travel to the Vysehrad Fort you must visit this church. There is a small entrance fee of 50 crowns around £1.70, but it is well worth it. Photos can only be taken without flashguns here. Inside is magnificent, with beautiful paintings adorning almost every inch of the walls and especially the ceilings. The Altar is marble with gold pieces, and the windows are gorgeous stained glass. This is a place you could easily spend a couple of hours admiring the beautiful artworks and also pause, reflect and light a candle for a small donation.

The stained glass windows are beautiful as are the paintings on the ceilings. Outside there are gardens to walk around which are equally nice.
