It is an unnecessarily huge mall where you can get lost easily. Yes, it contains almost every brand inside, many shops but it is very claustrophobic and no air inside. Always crowded and you can get tired so soon. You will never pass the same shop again. Albert is the best option to go there bcs it is hipermarket.

Recently renovated, this is a great shopping center with everything you may have needed under one roof.
I specifically like the fact that you can get most things (including photo prints, stationery printing, etc) even on a Sunday. The Albert supermarket is great with its own bakery and a great selection of stuff, probably the best shop in this whole complex.
What I didn't like: although the food court is nice, spread-out and offering different types of food, it no longer allows customers to eat their food while having a beer (as used to be the case before their recent upgrade) unless you go and sit in the allocated pub. I think they have lost a significant aspect of what Czech food places used to be like.
The food in the food court is nice if you are shopping with kids, but if you want a "proper" meal, best to go to a pub somewhere. We tried some of the coffee shops and they were disappointing, compared to a traditional "cukrarna" at the local metro station.

A bit far from the city center but a good place to spend time if its raining or you have nothing else to do. The biggest or one of the biggest mall of Prague. Mall has variety of Local and international brands shops and good cafes.

I hate shopping centres with a passion, I like markets but visiting Prague with my designer diva cousin we visited this shopping centre and she loved it all the big names are here and i loved it too not for the shopping but for the extremely comfy seating areas which are dotted about. I spent hours just relaxing whilst she shopped, pure bliss.

Chodov always was a good mall, but since the 2018 extension which doubled its size it is now bordering on the unbelievable. Not only do we go there weekly to shop, M&S of course, Albert super-supermarket, electrical goods and a huge food court with Sushi, Thai, Toms Burgers, Pizza Hut etc etc and a 18 screen 4DX cinema, but not it is becoming a meeting place with a night life all of its own. The pubs and coffee shops are seen as a good place to meet up and it is certainly the "smartest" mall I have ever seen.

The Chodov Shopping Mall is a bit outside of the city but well worth visiting. It is an upscale and busy but bigger and not so crowded as Palladium for example. It is clean and well designed also there are many designer shops and good restorant which is quite a surprise for us.

I cannot think of anything you cannot find here, there are so many shops it will make your eyes hurt.. its clean and pretty well laid out too.
For me the downside is the food court, it's badly designed and utter chaos when busy.
When it is quiet however, it is perfect.
Best feature for me is the car park (yes, really) they have lights above the spaces so instead of looking for an empty space, you simply look for a green light. Genius! - I think of the countless hours I have wasted in other car parks.. (3 hours free parking)

I think it’s time to change my review regarding Chodov. This new, shiny, original decorated mall takes many merits!!! Shopping is really fun now!!!
New firms opened!!!
The food area is fantastic, multiple choices!!!
Still need more employees who speak English and an easier reorganization of the entrances/exits of the parking areas.

Typical Westfield, though smaller than the London ones. The experience is quite similar though and it's the best place to do shopping in Prague. Parking is good.

(May 2017 & May 2018) I would visit this mall every morning to buy food for breakfast in the supermarket to take to the nearby business park where I worked.
In those days once would emerge from Chodov metro station to see bunnies frolicking around. Are they still there ?
Czechs enjoy repute as engineers and their multilingual, multilayered mindset is reflected in the Chodov mall. There is a large display of the mall inside its west entrance which provided a breakdown of the tiered mall. It brought to mind a circuit board and even though I'm technical it helped me not a jot. Architecture reminiscent of the organic structures one sees in an Hieronymous Bosch painting. I honestly got lost in that mall so many times and escalators always seemed
to take me down to the underground car park. If only I had a ball of string...
I needed a SIM card to allow me to open a local bank account as they'll take customers with a Czech tel number so could not avoid venturing deeper into the labyrinth. The shop was a pop up and I'd tend to meet a few dead ends when retracing my steps to finalise the transaction.
All pre-Westfield.
So I then I eventually gave up the ghost and generally did my shopping in the Pankrac district instead. The mall there is not over-engineered, is more traditional & orthogonal in design. It has corners. I like corners.
I speak good German and found I could pick up Czech phrases, also glean the meaning of newspaper articles through learning frequently occurring key words, as my mind is fairly wired for that sort of thing. But I am not in the same league as those who live 'v Praze' with their mental gymnastics. I actually believe that the Czechs seek complexity. Another observation - their streets and houses feature two sets of number shields, one in blue and the other in red. These numbers don't seem related. Why ???? Not seen this sort of thing anywhere else. Both sets of numbers change with equal frequency too, we're not talking arrondisement versus boulevard.
I noticed also how all metro passengers luurv to demonstrate their learn-ed nature by carting books around with them, which one would find poked into one's back if standing. Maybe that's since given way to e-readers, tablets & smartphones.
I also spent time in Brno which I worked out was derived from the German word for stream Bruenne but the locals looked blank when I suggested that. Home of the original Bren machine gun and the town where Mendel/Mandel experimented with green & black broad beans in the Middle Ages in his research on inheritance - as I vaguely recall from biology class. Walking along the river/canal there I noticed little rollers were positioned between the rail base and stone pillars of a railway bridge. I assume they act as shock absorbers. Nice touch.
One scary thing about Eastern (oops sorry) Central Europe. Place names change according to regime. One of Napoleon's triumphs was at Austerlitz in what is now Czech territory (or close by) yet that town name no longer exists. The town does but it's been renamed.
They are trying to hawk the name Czechia recently...good luck with that...hmm...I keep thinking of Chechnia and Grozny. Bohemia would be a very attractive name (sorry Moravians).
Being a squat Celt with highly developed calf muscles I notice how many folk in Prague are tall but lack calf muscles. Ok not literally but that's how it seems.
I do hope the outskirts of Prague don't become too Americanised.
I made out an advert for a round trip by coach from Prague to Dresden specifically to shop at Primark. Funnily enough I did visit that same shop in Dresden (but by train not coach) and everything is bilingual so it's clearly a Thing to make such a pilgrimage from across the border. Scenic train journey by the way. Runs along a valleyed river and is one of those trans-Europe routes.
Shame about the grumpy border guard who was very suspicious of me. I spoke in German to him then he tried some other lingo on me. Then his colleague told him off !
I'm a swarthy South Walean. That's a Thing too. The Romans called our tribe the Silures.
European trams - new or old. The No 6 tram in Prague takes you right through the city. I found myself lodging at the NE terminal and followed the line all the way to its other terminus in Pankrac. All the best sights, including the Castle environs just made for a 1950s British Hammer gothic movie.
