The casemates can be visited only in a guided tour. The visit consists in watching an informative video and then a not very long walk through some dark galleries, where there is nothing to see. At the end you'll visit Gorlice hall, the highlight of the tour. The entrance is at Cihelna Brana.

We went with guided ticket czk60, and so excited to know about the history but unfortunately the guided man (mid 50 to 60 years old) don't speak English at all.Too bad. So we just follow the group and feel so mistreated.
So if you don't understand Czech and still want to visit and view the original statue, please prepare your self as a deaf person.

Definitely a must see in the city. We went to the cellars because they were included in the Prague card, we had no idea what we were going to, but we ended up enjoying very much the visit. The guide took us into the fort walls and underneath them to a huge room where they kept the original statues from the Charles Bridge. In the end we watched a video about the history of the city.

It sounds like the tour has changed since the last reviews were written. It was a very enjoyable 45 minutes or so learning about the history of Prague and Vysehrad from an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and funny guide. Would highly recommend to anyone who is interested in history. It's also the only way to see some of the original Charles Bridge statues!

This was the best historical tour in the entire city. At the beginning, they give you a history of the city and why it was built the way it was. VERY informative. Then they take you into the fort walls and underneath them to a huge room that houses the original statues from the Charles Bridge. Best tour in town.

You tour the tunnel and casemates with a guide. It starts with a slide show with illuminated city model to show where the city gates used to be. Only five left nowadays, three are at Vysehrad. The guide was friendly and informative. The guy at the cash desk was a bit rude and short to guests.

It starts with a video and talk. The guide was very knowledgeable. Then you walk through part of the tunnel with information from the guide along the way. Then you see some original statues from the bridge. If you are short on time, skip this one. It was interesting but I thought we would get to walk around by ourselves a bit and you are always on the path with the guide.

The longest part of this visit is a speech and a movie that you have to watch before they let you go into the tunnels make sure you book the English version or you will be listening to it in Czech. The tunnels are quite interesting to walk through especially when you pop out of them into the large inner chamber with giant statues. Worth a visit.

I wish I could give this a 'good' rather than an 'average' or 'very good'. We went here because it was on the Prague card. You can only go on the hourly tour (which takes 45 mins, on the hour) and at first you get into a room where you are shown a 20 min video about the walls/gates of Prague - historical and factual in 4 languages (english is one of them), then you get to go in the casemates (underground tunnels used to move troops) - then into the main underground chamber that houses the original Charles Bridge statues - an amazing space and the tunnels feel very historic and slightly scary. The nearby basilica and the graveyard and the gardens are all lovely. A nice place if you have plenty of time to enjoy. The downside is the signage, especially if you have little time, we found it very difficult to orientate ourselves to where we needed to be. To summarise, great if you fancy a picnic in a nice spot with some history and things to see, but hard if you have a heavy sight-seeing schedule. An interesting outdoor gym near the exit for kids, and just a nice place if you have time for relaxing here.

It was a little difficult to find the entrance to the casemates....but it was worth it. The guided tour was very pleasant. It's a shame not to have found an Italian speaking guide, but the tour in English was also very pleasant
A short journey in the cold and in the shadows... but full of history and legends.
I recommend covering up because it's cold

Does the first casemates tour begin right at the opening time (for example 9:30am) or at the top of each hour (10am for the first official tour start time)?
