About
Do you like folk music, songs and traditions? But you do not have enough time to swing through the Czech countryside? Well, come to Folklore Garden! Folklore Garden is a unique project offering a wonderful experience of the Czech folk music in a way of an interactive show, in the romantic atmosphere of a small castle and a folklore village. Our special atmosphere is also created by our location: near the heart of old Prague and the romantic shores of the Vltava River. You are seated at large rustic tables and benches where you can easily get in touch with other guests. You do not have to sit all night only – you can also dance and sing along. The dancers and singers will give you a lesson, and you will learn easy Czech folk songs and dances that are cheerful, and create a good mood. While having fun enjoying a performance of our musicians and dancers in folk costumes 4-course dinner will be served. And you can enjoy drawing and serving wine using special pipette – glass wine-taster.

The prices are way too expensive compared with other locations where we were (even more central) for the food. Even if the show should be payed trough the initial fee they asked for additional offer for the musicians, which I found kind of weird. They also try to speculate on the transport to get back home proposing to pay pro person an absolutely exaggerated amount of money. I won't recommend it at all.

Dear, thank you for you feedback. In our opinion we aren ´t so expensive how you mentioned (you compared our restaurant with restaurants in the centre). The price includes 4-courses dinner, unlimited consumtion of drinks and folklore show.
Thank you for your comment - all feebacks are important for us.

As part of a 3 weeks visit to some countries in Europe this was a high point, is a must if you like music and traditional dances.
You feel like in home, the musicians and the dancers are so expressive and show so much passion and good vibes in their presentation.
I reserved direct with the company and the communication was easy.
Lots of wine, a good variety of food, I'll recommend it 100%.
They have some surprises during the show... but not spoliers from me guys :)

This is a very charming way to spend an evening, with some of the most hospitable people we have met on our trip. The dancing, especially when the audience was invited to join in, was fun. The dinner was exceptionally well-prepared, and hearty. We had to leave early due to a change in our train schedule and the hostess arranged for us to be picked up immediately. We will long remember the kindness of this group.

The entertainment was very good, both the musicians and the dancers. The food was like a good home cooked meal, nothing fancy but solid and tasted good. Transport from and to our hotel was included in the price. A very nice evening!

It was a nice concert with a couple dancing in different kroj (traditional dresses) but there was no knowledge about the kroj or even where they were from. The dinner was okay, the drinks were plentiful, and the atmosphere was full of fun ! It was like having dinner as a member of a very large family!

Smaller group during Covid, so that was enjoyable. Lovely log cabin type building with romantic lighting! Great food and endless beer and wine refills. Very lively dancers and musicians. We even had a "conga" line going around the room- no inhibitions after all the included beer. Ha! You will not be disappointed. Private car transportation came to our hotel and was there at the end of the evening to take us back.

On being dropped off no one knew where to go. There were 4 of the working men smoking outside a tent and that ended up being where we were going in. Waitresses coming into work saying they didn’t want to be there. Acted bored and didn’t give enthusiastic performance. Wasn’t given wine or beer until flagging waiters down. Then they acted rude. Note they had served everything to the people who were 15 minutes late. My beer was slammed down on table and the waiter said here. In a normal glass not like the steins everyone else had. Waiter with wine huffed at me. Photographer came around to take photos with signs with smiley faces and hearts to post to social media. When me and the person next to me told her we are not together she huffed and walked away. Theo are also sitting at a table behind me and drinking now that their show is over til later. The food has been pretty good except the cabbage slaw. The lady next to me from Spain is very disappointed also. And this is all before everything is over.

I think sardines are likely more comfortable in a can than people ushered into the Folklore Garden. This is likely more true for a couple, or anyone not traveling in a large group. We were taken to a group table, actually picnic type benches where we had to climb in and over others to sit. The food is marginal at best. The service questionable. The entertainment canned. All in all, an overpriced, underwhelming, undervalued evening. Spend your money and time elsewhere!

We went to Folklore Garden on our last night in Prague. I feel of two minds in writing about it. There is the location itself...and then there are the customers.
The location is way on the SWest part of Prague, but they take care of that problem easily- if you are not part of a group being bussed in, they will use taxis to carry you to and from your hotel. There is no added charge for this!
The single price includes a warm-up drink on arrival, a sort of warm honey wine (I would have liked more of) and your complete meal and all drinks, plus a music and dance show.
Seating is communal, at long tables. The food is "good." Not great, but good. We found the soup very good, the main course pretty good, and the dessert just fine. Others at our table said the white and red wines were not very good. The beer was great! They also offer fruit juices and soft drinks.
The real high points for us were the "show." They had a live, 6 piece band, playing a range of Czech, Bohemian, Moravian folk tunes and 4 or 5 couples, wearing various folk outfits (they changed 3 times during the evening) and doing folk dancing. We had seen folk dance at an event elsewhere in Prague and this seemed just as good, authentic, etc. It would be a "don't miss" evening... except...
It seems like their primary customer base is "tour groups." There were about 125 people there that night, and maybe 8 or 10 did not come with a tour group. Wide range of folks-- Americans, Brits, Italians, Japanese, Australians, Rumanians, and even a group from Argentina, plus stray couples from France, Sweden, and even from Prague. They tend to be a noisy group, talking loudly to each other more than paying attention to the show. I can accept that, but it did grow tiresome hearing people bleat about where they used to work or what their grandchildren were doing while a nice folk vocal was being performed. Many took the music to just mean "talk louder." We had lots of the real bad tour group experiences-- guys who stand in front of people to get that one great picture or shoot some video, but then ignore the show most of the time.
The "emcee" was very good at working this sort of a crowd (including being able to say "hello" in about 10 languages) and aimed to make it a "fun" experience for the masses. He was very good at doing what he does...I'm just sorry for what he had to do.
So that makes this a mixed blessing. We found nothing else in Prague offering this "folk" experience on a regular basis. This place is very well run and one of the best values-per-price we saw on the entire trip. But the customers! yech!
Still, I would go again. And I would recommend it to others, with that advanced warning.
