Neighborhood: Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighborhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.

An experience not to be missed.
We were recommended this cocktail bar and we would recommend it to anyone travelling to Prague. This unique, intimate, classy cocktail bar is full of character you would hope for. The staff are friendly, masters of their craft and make you feel welcome. The cocktails even though a little pricey are worth every sip. We sampled several of them and loved each one. You will need to book a table from 5.30 - 9.30 otherwise you will need to stand outside and wait to be seated. After 9.30 you just have to take your chance. To anyone going, you will enjoy every second.

Staff were welcoming and knowledgeable. Definitely worth a visit.
We stumbled on this lovely bar after being out so we weren't able to enjoy it more which was a shame as the wine was beautiful. We were welcomed by a lovely waiter (tall red haired chap) who sat us down, offered to take our coats and looked after us very well. He recommended a few drinks to us after asking us what we liked. He was extremely knowledgeable about all the drinks and handled a group of 5 Americans very well who were being very, American.... Unfortunately we were at the end of our night or we would have loved to have spent longer here. They didn't seem to do meals and only snacks but that may be due to the time we arrived. Highly recommend a visit here and also the Frankova wine.

    Great little cocktail bar
An absolutely fantastic night. We booked a table the night before whilst walking past to guarantee us entry for the friday night (my wifes 30th birthday). Doormen was friendly and asked what time we would prefer, going with a 1900 table, they said they could seat us at the bar. Initially we walked away deflated that we would have to sit at the bar as opposed to having a romantic table for two, we couldn't have been more wrong! And sitting at the bar was the beat decision ever. When we arrived the following day (15minutes early) we were shown to the bar and propped ourselves on a couple of stools and waited to be served. The bar area was tiny (we only learnt later when we nipped upstairs for the toilet that there was a whole other floor with tables all being serviced by the little bar we were sat at). We effectively had a free show whilst sat having our drinks, chatting with the really friendly (but very busy) barman in between his cocktail making was great, and he was kind enough to discuss drinks and make suggestions. My wife went straight for The Revenant, one of the most common cocktails being sent out, poured from an elaborate decanter and made with an absinthe and pernod base. I was a little more flaky, and requested something refreshing, and got a scrabble punch. We then went off menu, going for a Dark and Stormy, and a Gin Fizz. Followed by a Paper Plane (pleasantly surprised, this was my favourite even though it was bourbon based and I hate whiskey). We then went with a Long Island Iced Tea each, after being warned there was a lot of alcohol in it. We ended our cocktail session with a classic Caipirinha, and a house Caipirinha with BlackBerry (both delicious, but possibly our least favourite of the cocktails). The whole time, the barman would chat and joke with us whenever he got the opportunity, and we got to watch them work and send out these elaborate cocktails. The only negative would be having to pay for water. I requested a glass of tap water with one of the rounds. Sadly there is no free water, and we could buy either a small bottle, a large bottle, or a jug (of tap water) we opted for the jug as we were informed they would keep topping it up as we drank), the jug was 95kc. I understand why they do this- Hemingways is one of the must do places in Prague, and to have people coming in, ordering one cocktail and then sitting there drinking free water is not good business sense. It was the one small niggle from an other wise great night, and by no means tainted the evening. A big thank you to 'John', the barman who put up with our incessant questions and indecisiveness with a smile and a good sense of humour, and especially for the delicious drinks. A highlight of our Prague trip, and something to remember

Despite the fact that we came without having booked a table, we get one for 3 persons after waiting patiently for 15 minutes in the front of the bar. Inside, design is very meticulous, the atmosphere is smooth, the light is subdued : it feels cozy, but a little bit too dark.
The waiter was very nice and professional, we asked for advice and he kindly provided us with his expertise according to our expectations.
Cocktails menu is very original and can satisfy every tastes. The ones we chose were good-looking and tasted excellent !
Price a little bit high but considering the fact that this place is maybe the best cocktail bar of the city, it's worth the price !

Hemingway Bar is a 'must visit' destination when in Prague, so we made a point of checking it out and seeing what all the fuss is about.
We popped in on the way back to our hotel and reserved a table, as we saw that 'best book early to avoid disappointment' was the order of the day.
The venue itself is on several levels and we were escorted to the bar at the top of the building. The lighting was fairly dark and not ideal when looking at a cocktail menu that was also in dark text. Thankfully iphone torch was on hand to make the drinks menu visible. When we ordered our drinks the waitress explained in good detail what to expect and what flavours each cocktail exuded. This was helpful as both my wife and I have a habit of ordering exotic sounding cocktails that are unpalatable!
We had two rounds of drinks and they were all pretty good; Black and White New Fashioned definitely my favourite.
I did read reviews on here about people being told to wait for a table if they had not booked. But just like any busy capital city, it is always advisable to book ahead if you want to visit somewhere top of the list in the tourist guides!
We enjoyed our visit to Hemingway Bar and the drinks were pretty reasonable (about £7 UK a cocktail). Like most places that try and create their own mystique it is a bit overhyped, but still well worth a visit if you are in Prague.

Booked Hemingway Bar after researching good cocktail bars in Prague and this certainly didn't disappoint.

We booked a table for 19:00 on a Saturday night and arrived as they were opening (alongside 3-4 other booked tables). Highly advise you book this bar as you don't want to miss out!

Every single member of staff were fantastic and really knew their stuff. 10/10 service. And every cocktail we had was great. Not your classics but loved that about this place!

More expensive than other cocktail bars in Prague but cheaper than London priced for cocktails which are much better!
We paid £36 for 3 cocktails and some nuts!

what a lovely cocktail bar! we were referred here by a guide earlier in the day and it didn’t disappoint. we didn’t have a reservation so they sat us at the bar, which we ended up loving. the bartender was so friendly and personable, we had great conversations. our second cocktail the bartender asked us a bunch of questions on things we like/dislike and then made us a drink based off of that. both drinks were better than the first! highly recommend

One of the best bars I have ever been to! A must visit for all who visit Prague! The place is a little nondescript from the outside but extremely lovingly designed on the inside.
We sat there for several hours, the staff explained countless drinks and were always in a good mood. The staff are truly masters at their craft, the drinks simply delicious and all in all a fabulous evening with incredibly tasty drinks.

ABSOLUTE RECOMMENDATION!

We visited this bar twice during our three day trip to Prague. It was fabulous. The cocktails were a work of art and the bartenders were attentive and knowledgable. We went on a Friday and a Sunday night without a reservation but they were able to accommodate us without a problem. If this bar was in London it would be overcrowded and filled with posers! Instead it was quiet and lovely. 10/10

This place is a gem for craft cocktails. The interior is warm and intimate; with moody lighting, comfortable little tables, and photographs from the life of the namesake all over. It simultaneously feels like a medieval pub and an American prohibition-era speakeasy.

The staff is incredibly friendly, while still maintaining the no-nonsense attitudes that seem so common in Prague. They’re clearly proud of their menu’s signature cocktails (and rightfully so!) but are also very creative in crafting you a custom drink.

Make a reservation. The place always fills up, and while worth it, the wait can be long for a “walk in.”

It is the most boring bar I have ever been. Dark, basement and seats are next to each other. The waiter memorised each word he would say in english and saying exactly the same things to everyone coming in. Really suprised this place has this much ratings.

I’m a cocktail lover so when I found this unique cocktail bar in Prague we just had to go. It seems small from the outside but don’t let it deceive you it backs on to a larger area with an upstairs too!
If you have the opportunity sit at the bar! It’s small but intimate and the barmen are attentive - you feel like you have your own private barman!
The dimly lit atmosphere and music all add to an eclectic old time feel.
The cocktails were beautiful, some come in fancy glasses however the actual drinks themselves are out of this world regardless of what they’re presented in. We asked the barman for his recommendations and we weren’t disappointed.

We visited this amazing bar for a birthday drink as it was recommended to us and we were definitely not disappointed. Highly attentive waiter (Ondra) who asked about our preferences and suggested cocktails mixtures suiting our taste. The environment was pleasant and bar's interior was on point! Definitely worth the visit.
