Located on Slovansky Ostrov ( Slavonic Island ) is Zofin Palace ,a wonderful looking building that's just a joy to view.
Originally a single storey building in 1884 ,when the city of Prague purchased the island the palace was rebuilt and converted into a two storey palace building.
Many famous composers have performed in here ,Dvorak,Berlioz,Liszt,Tchailsky and Wagner, renovated between 1991-1994 it's now a restaurant and looks amazing ,well worth checking out if you're in the area and easy to locate on Slovansky Ostrov.

Typical venue for function, exhibition, etc these days. Long ago hosted some big names: Dvořak, Wagner, Liszt, etc. Recently farewell ceremony was held for Karel Gott. Building itself is quite all right, but grounds around it are pretty at spring time. Good place for a stroll and children activities. Great view of National Theater from one end of the island or Dancing House from the opposite end.

I love the Slovansky - Zofin Island. It always was and still is, great for families with children. As kids, we spend endless hours there.
Not much has changed, the shade trees got taller and the grounds are better kept. The restaurants are great, particularly in the summer.
The Zofin Palace is a beautiful venue.
When Karel Gott died last October, the farewell ceremony open to the public was held in the Zofin Palace. We watched people lining up all the way across the Legii Bridge.
It was a sad day in Prague ....

Zofin Palace is a beautiful building that if you walk along the wonderful Vltava River riverfront your sure to see.
Situated on Slovansky Ostrov ( Slavonic Island ) this is such a great example of the Neo Renaissance style of architecture that I love to stop and admire .
Originally a one storey building in 1884 the City Of Prague bought the island including the palace which was rebuilt and converted into a two storey palace building.
Many famous composers performed here including Dvořak,Berlioz,Liszt,Tchaiksky and Wagner .
Again renovated between 1991 and 1994 ,its a wonderful site along the riverfront and makes for some great photographic opportunities.
Well worth checking out if your in the area.

Nice place for walk-away or a coffee break. There is a beautiful restaurant with river view. Very good coffee and cakes. Good beer as well. Seating outside in summer days is amazing.

If you're looking for where to spend NYE then I would definitely recommend Zofin Palace, fantastic food, drink, party and location, we could not have asked for more.
The palace is located on an island in the river, meaning when midnight hits you can see fireworks all across the city but needn't worry about any stray fireworks coming near you (which put me off several other venues in more central areas). We rang in the new year with a little bottle of champagne each and with all the fireworks I've never had a New Year like it. The food and drink was excellent, you certainly won't go hungry or thirsty and there was something for all tastes, the waiting staff were also very attentive. We didn't have to spend any money the whole night as the selection of food and drink covered on the menu was enough to keep us happy.
There was also a photobooth where you could pose with various props and received a printed copy of the photo, and could email a copy to yourself as well. If you are travelling with children there was a full play area, with blankets provided for all guests if you decided to head outside.
Thank you for a wonderful NYE, we had a fantastic evening!

When the city of Prague purchased Slovansky Ostrov they rebuilt the magnificent Zofin Palace which had stood here since 1884 ,a famous music venue back in the day with world famous composer's such as Wagner, Tchailsky,Dvorok,Berlioz and Liszt performing here ,renovated between 1991-1994 this former palace building is now a great restaurant, it couldn't have a better setting, if you're planning a holiday to Prague I highly recommend that you seek out this most beautiful of buildings on this beautiful island.

Hi I'm thinking of booking here for new years eve party I understand that it's the 2nd year they have run this. Does anyone have any experience of this they can share. Apparently there is a jazz band on but my wifes not too keen is she would prefer to get up and dance to more party music.
