Neighborhood: Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighborhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.

They had quite a selection of different things located on the floor. It looks like there are 5 floors with parking and restaurants as well. The building itself was lit up quite nicely and quite inviting to go into. It seems a bit older than the Palladium across the road.Visited December 2019Written March 1, 2020
- WenovoMorris County, New Jersey2,089 contributionsFor the bargain shopper ?I have always disliked the architecture of the communist era. Built in the mid seventies. It was very popular with the locals back then. The merchandise here is very "affordable. " It may be the reason that it survived this long, after the opening of the modern Palladium shopping mall across the street. I bought an umbrella once on a rainy day here, and a warm scarf on a cold day. It was a convenient and effortless experience.Visited October 2019Written September 26, 2020
- Kok Siang CKuala Lumpur, Malaysia321 contributionsFavourite place to buy Bohemia Crystal GlassThe shopping mall is just opposite Palladium Shopping Mall and can be reached conveniently via Metro (Nimesti Republiky station) . My colleague at Prague recommended this place for shopping as the price is usually lower for the same quality of product. Yes I did all my shopping of crystal glass in the Bohemia Crystal Shop at the top floor whenever i come to Prague. The price is attractive and they usually offer good discount as well. The lady shop assistant is courteous here and they usually wrap the gifts nicely for travellers like me.Visited November 2014Traveled soloWritten January 3, 2015
- Rosalie W8 contributionsLove going hereI have been coming to Kotva since I was a little girl as my grandmother is Czech it is very nostalgic and reminiscent of traditional Czech culture. The canopes and cakes at the cafe are delicious and a must try. The exhibition they currently have about Prague in the 60/70/80 on the top floor was amazing so definitely worth a visitVisited June 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten July 4, 2023
- Linda B13 contributionsOkay...Was an okay shopping mall, but seems like it is past it's prime. Had some nice store choices here, but nothing really special. Right across the street from the newer Palladium, so quick walk over if you want a peak inside Kotva.Visited February 2017Traveled with friendsWritten February 27, 2017
- WenovoMorris County, New Jersey2,089 contributionsSeems out of place...I always thought the Kotva building is completely out of place on Namesti Republiky. The ugly structure is too close to some of the most beautiful architecture in Prague. Beautiful buildings were demolished to make room for this Soviet era building. Kotva served its purpose as one of the few shopping department store in the center of Prague at that time. We walked in out of curiosity, while in the area, not really to shop. Did not expect much, so we were not surprised, and got out of there quickly. With so many newer shopping malls, the new Palladium mall is nearby, other beautiful stores throughout Prague, I am surprised Kotva lasted this long. Maybe it is the central location that gets the customers in. Only a few people were mingling around, so it was a huge contrast to the crowded Palladium... The rooftop restaurant has a nice view ...Visited July 2016Written February 3, 2017
- WenovoMorris County, New Jersey2,089 contributionsWhen it's Raining ...I need an umbrellaWe were caught up in the rain. Kotva was the closest place I hoped to buy an umbrella without much effort. There on the same floor I also found a decent looking shawl in light grey knit, so I grabbed that too. The weather temporarily changed and I put both things to a good use in Prague. I don't want to spent anymore time than I absolutely have to shopping when in Prague. My husband appreciated my very quick decision making - and the merchandize was very inexpensive. I was almost sure that I will forget the umbrella in a restaurant somewhere soon. I did forget the shawl the next day in a restaurant and a kind waiter came running after me ..as I always say, there are many nice people in Prague:) I was in and out the store quickly, they had what I needed and it was easy to find ... I guess it is just like any other average department store ....Visited September 2017Traveled as a coupleWritten October 19, 2017

- Little-Fruit-Bat415 contributionsDon't waste your time at KotvaI went to Kotva to explore what is considered by locals one of the best shopping malls of the town. Kotva is based not far away from Palladium, on the other side of the street. For those of you who have travelled around a bit, it will be a big disappointment. First and foremost, they sell basically only overpriced foreign stuff that you can find cheaper back home - the same issue applies to Palladium, by the way - but the most shocking thing was the staff, who 1) do not speak any foreign language, and that in a city that lives on tourism, and 2) are incredible rude and absolutely do not know the meaning of customer service. So don't waste your time, you won't find anything interesting or worth buying at Kotva.Visited September 2014Traveled with friendsWritten September 20, 2014

Found a crystal store on the third floor that has a great selection of chandeliers, and stem ware. We hit it on a sale period (In Europe this set for two to three time a year). Got a great deal on a chandelier for our new home. Total weight is 10kg, and we got a small/medium size one so be aware if you are flying home! The ladies packed it up extremely well.

A pleasant place to do some shopping with a wide range of both local Czech and international brands.
There's also an interesting concept store on Level 4.
We went back twice to browse. It's right next to the Municipal Hall where we enjoyed a concert.
