Your experience in Prague will never be complete if you do not see it from the top. Hillsides, stretched from the west to the north, provide spectacular views of greenish copper cupolas, narrow cobblestone streets, bridges connecting both river banks and green gardens from red-roof tops of centuries-old houses. Prague pulls you into its 1300 year old history. Walking up the hill or stairs to Prague Castle, the historical seat of Czech rulers and the majestic Saint Vitus Cathedral can leave you speechless (and out of breath). Luckily, plenty of terrace cafés overlooking gardens and beautiful parks are available to provide rest and a place to catch your breath again.

Lovely Little Shop
Jan 2017 • Couples
This was my fourth trip to Prague and it was the third tome I've been in here enticed by the paintings in the window of local scenes. Al the artists are local and have a good feel for Prague given the wonderful street scenes painted. I think the larger pictures are a little overpriced but smaller pictures are also good momenta and easily carried. The larger ones can be packed and sent. Helpful and friendly staff.

Nice Purchase
Sep 2016 • Couples
My wife and I found this gallery by accident whilst walking to dinner. There was a stunning oil painting displayed outside the door which we would have purchased had we had room back home. We settled on a smaller version and a water color. The staff was quiet helpful and gave us a discount by buying 2 and packaged well for our travels. Larry & Kelly, Georgetown, TX

Wonderful unique pieces!
Nov 2015 • Couples
My wife and I love finding unique "decor" to bring back with us from various stops we have made, and we randomly stumbled upon Artsen while taking the stairs to the castle. A particular piece of art caught our eye, so we stopped inside and fell in love with 2 other original pieces. Everything, no matter how large, is priced reasonably and they have many unique pieces that will remind you of Prague. They are very friendly and willing to assist you with picking out the perfect piece.

I want to take a moment and give them some extra praise for a piece that we needed shipped. Two of the canvases we were able to pack and bring with us on the plane, but one item in particular had to be shipped. They did a WONDERFUL job of packing the piece very securely so that it arrive perfectly intact. I know how "nervy" it can be when you are having something shipped from overseas, but you can certainly rest easy with Artsen. My package arrived in 14 days (customs in the US was slow) and I received an email the day they shipped it out so I could track it all of the way.

Overall it was a great experience in a warm and inviting little shop. It makes me miss Prague a little bit to think about it.

A Place of Original Paintings not Lithographs
Jul 2014 • Couples
My wife and I were spending the afternoon shopping in Prague and went to the Castle Mount Area. On the Charles Bridge there are many vendors with prints, paintings, photographs and other items for sale. I was really intrigued by several but didn't want to buy the first thing I saw.
We were in town and in an alley I found some of the prints. Really liked them and the cost was $65 for print and they had others which were "ORIGINAL" acrylic paintings. I picked out and print which I like and then saw the "ORIGINAL" paintings. Something looked very familiar about the two I picked out. In fact they were exact copies, one supposed Acrylic paint for $150 and print for $65. Neither were limited edition but open edition. So I could buy a poster for $65 or a poster which someone put a little paint on for $150. Decided that wasn't a good deal.
We went one road - North of the main road and found Artsen.
It was a small place in an alley which had several genre of paintings. I tend toward Impressionists and I found several which I liked (my wife has to like them too - we don't always agree on my crooked houses) The two I picked out were by a Russian Czech artist Alexandr Klemens. I really liked both but took the smaller since it was stretched and would fit in my suitcase. The other could have been rolled up and it would have fit. The painting is the Charles Bridge in Post Impressionist style. The Lithographs were also of Charles Bridge but I really like what I found. The asking price isn't the paying price - you can negotiate. They also have a website from which you can buy direct.
I recommend this place if you want a souvenir which is more than a poster. I also recommend Alexandr Klemens as someone to buy.
