Had this booked for my birthday. The provider emailed the day before to say it would not go ahead due to weather conditions and would work with Viator to provide a refund, It's now been 13 days and i have not received my refund yet nor received any message about a delay to refund me. Looks like something similar happened to someone else on Tripadvisor, wish I had read that review before booking on here. I tried to set up another air balloon ride for the same day with 2 other providers, Active Czech and aeronautik.cz, both who would fly on the same day that Viator's provider would not. Strange.

We were so excited for this hot air balloon ride over Prague only to get an email the day before the trip saying it was cancelled due to weather which was confusing since it was beautiful weather with no wind at all- but it was to late to find another tour operator. What is even more frustrating is I have emailed Viator several times for a refund (it was expensive) but I cannot get a response....yet they email me advertisements EVERY DAY!

Response from Isabelle G, Manager at Ballooning CZ
Responded Jun 21, 2017
We are sorry for the inconvenience, but hot air balloon activity is related to suitable weather conditions. The only weather conditions that the pilots are taking into consideration, in general, are the hours of flight (sunrise and sunset time) and their main priority is the comfort and the safety of the passengers. We are flying 40 km away from Prague and, many times, the weather is quite different than in Prague. And, even, a no wind situation, could be a problem, because it means the balloon will not move and could stuck in the air. Therefore, the pilots are taking into consideration more other details in order to have a comfortable and safe flight. We would like to mention that we don't charge any amount in advance and we are sorry that you encountered problems with the refund. Thank you for your message, it gave us the possibility to clear the situation and to explain better the conditions of hot air balloon activity.

If you are looking for a hot air balloon ride (and I believe you should), this is the company for you. We had booked a trip for a Friday and received an email on Thursday morning stating that the weather was not good for ballooning and could we reschedule for Saturday. I'm so glad we could because it was absolutely fantastic. They picked us up at our hotel and were very prompt. Then after picking up other tourists, we headed about a 45 minute drive south, into a more country atmosphere. There we were greeted by Isabelle, the owner. She was so sweet and charming and proceeded to provide us with some instructions and gave us cookies and a drink. She told us about the pilot we would have and then she went off to help her crew while we watched them get the balloon ready. Once the balloon was lifted, we climbed into the basket. There were 10 of us and the basket very accommodating and comfortable. We flew around for about an hour or so and then landed. It was fun to see the balloon chaser crew drive to our location as our pilot decided where he would land. Once the balloon landed, (and it was an incredibly soft landing) Isabelle proceeded to give us a little background on hot air ballooning while the crew packed the balloon up. Then we were presented with fun certificates stating that we had successfully completed our ride and had a glass of champagne to toast the experience. We were then taken back to our hotels. I would definitely recommend this company. It was a fantastic trip.

This was our very first balloon flight and it was well worth the wait and totally amazing! We were picked up from our hotel in Prague with no delays, and when we got to the location, we were dismayed that there were 3-4 other balloons already in the air. We thought we had lost time being in the air but we got to witness first-hand how the balloon gets filled and then off the ground. There were about 6-7 crew members laying out the balloon and then holding it up to fill with air. We were a group of 11 including people from all over the world which added as cosmopolitan aspect to the evening. Everyone spoke English, and the crew, who hailed from many different countries, also communicated in English with each other. Isabella, who we had the most contact with in booking the excursion, came over to introduce herself right away and they set out a table of cookies and soft drinks for us to enjoy on while we watched the proceedings; we have some great video of the balloon being hoisted up in the air. We were lucky to be able to "sail" on this day as the conditions were not favorable for the past ten days - in fact, when we were first booking before we left for Prague, we had been alerted by them that they had to cancel, even though we had not confirmed the date. This gave us some confidence that they were prepared and that safety was a priority. We learned from out pilot, Ismail, that the low winds, while allowing us to go up, also made it harder for us to sail and venture farther than where we started. We spent a good time in the atmosphere and he rotated the basket so we all got a good view of the horizon from different vantage points. Though we were not allowed to fly over Prague, we were able to see another castle and its grounds below us and hovered over it for a great deal of time. Although we thought we would be chilly, Ismail explained that since we were moving with the wind, we never felt the breeze and thus there was no “wind chill”. The sunset lasting well over an hour from our altitude and was exquisite. Everyone on board was full of awe at the views. As I mentioned earlier, we thought that we had lost air-time but in the distance, we saw the other balloons trying to land - the lack of wind at certain layers in the atmosphere was hindering them. Ismail explained the problems the other pilots were having and that we, too, would be facing the same conditions on our way down. Not surprisingly, we experienced issues on landing. With the winds picking up, Ismail had to now find a spot to land as we had drifted away from our starting point. Ismail continued to let us know the issues we were facing and what his plan was. He had full control of the situation, even though we had no idea what was going to happen. We learned that we just couldn't land anywhere because it wasn't cleared ahead of time and the winds weren't cooperating. He was in constant contact with the land crew and directing them where to go -- he had a plan. It was like watching an experiences military expert maneuver a fighter jet for the perfect landing! As we lowered, we, the passengers, were given directives to either lean one way or the other and to make sure we stayed exactly where we were at all times. Ismail was professional, calm and made us feel safe, especially since the sun had already set and darkness was starting to fill the sky making our decent urgent. We brushed a few treetops but safely landed just as it got dark. We celebrated both our trip and the safe landing as well as sang "Happy Birthday" to a fellow ballooner! We toasted and received our balloon-flying certificates to cap an exciting trip. A wonderful memory and exciting way to see the beautiful country side of Prague.

We celebrated our daughter's 12th birthday by surprising her with a balloon trip. It was fantastic, Isabelle and her crew were great in making this experiance unforgettable as well as reassuring our concerns . The flight was calm and is suitable for families with kids, and is definitely a different flying experiance than we have ever tried. We requested to have a birthday cake upon landing and sure enough when the van and crew arrived together with the traditional Champagne -a cake was brought out candles and all.. We definitely recommend to anyone who wishes to do something a bit different and special. Isabelle and crew are very responsive and are willing to go the extra mile to make the event special ,all with a smile.
