Hi. We were with an OAT tour group for this. It’s about a 1/2 ride from Prague. The guide explained that once upon a time this was complete but through conflicts in the old old days it was somewhat destroyed. After that still in the old days the local villagers gradually removed bricks and rocks for their own needs so it serving another need. I think at this time there is some effort to restore it.

We are always traveling with a kid. Now he is 2,5 and very active. Therefore after a 30 min car ride to Okor we would be happy to let him release his power. Unfortunately there is no park around but a small path along the field. We liked the castle and feel sad to that not much of it remained. The area is clean and tidy. The small restaurant next to it visited only for refreshments. Do recommend to visit due to a social atmosphere around it

There is a magnificent view to the castle as you walk up and we went on the self guided tour, so you can pretty much wander around the place at your own free will, though we have been on the guided tour in the past, so we knew what we wanted to see. So for the first timer, we would suggest taking the guided tour, as they will also show you some places you can;t go by yourself. There is nothing but the ruins, but they do give you a decent history and the ruins are fantastic and occasionally you will see a wedding here.

Okoř is a castle located on a low rocky promontory in Okoř, north-west of Prague, about 15 km from the city centre, in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. The guide visit takes at about 3é minutes and it is only in czech. They don't have english version, not even few informations on the paper. But you can find it on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oko%C5%99_Castle
If you have been in Prague already and you are looking for something new, go to Okoř and listen the story about White lady. By bicycle, by bus, by car. It is cute village, there is several good opportunities to have a good food as well.

It's a small ruined castle and quite pleasant. The big problem is that the tour of the castle is only in Czech and takes about an hour. As we don't understand Czech we walked around the castle at our own pace and when we finished after about half an hour we went to the gate only to find that it was locked. We sat down by the gate and after about 10 minutes were happy when someone on the outside opened it. Unfortunately when we tried to walk out the person who'd opened the gate stood in our way and tried to stop us leaving. He only spoke in Czech and was quite aggressive. Eventually after much arguing he slammed the door open and shouted some obscenity at us.

After a few days of fancy crowded city stuff this was a great change of pace. We like to explore the ruins and do some climbing like you can in deserted places. This is owned and managed by rhe village but still plenty of chance to play. Since you have a train and bus ride there and back you will spend a half day for 45 minutes at castle.

It is one of the amazing historic places in the Czech Republic. It is not far from Prague's centre. Just 25 minutes by car. There are a nice parking place and many of the historic scene there. And nice Czech traditional foods and beer too. The village is small and the people are so nice, charm and friendly. Child-friendly, nature and very nice for biking.

Awesome one! Differently from the most famous castle in Prague, this one is kind of ruined by time, whats gives it personality. Must-see for people who like to visit ruins.

If you like history you will enjoy the trip. For me the outside view would have been sufficient. The tour was just in Czech and didnt last really long. I would recommend having a snack in front of the castle and enjoy the view instead of going inside.
