Your experience in Prague will never be complete if you do not see it from the top. Hillsides, stretched from the west to the north, provide spectacular views of greenish copper cupolas, narrow cobblestone streets, bridges connecting both river banks and green gardens from red-roof tops of centuries-old houses. Prague pulls you into its 1300 year old history. Walking up the hill or stairs to Prague Castle, the historical seat of Czech rulers and the majestic Saint Vitus Cathedral can leave you speechless (and out of breath). Luckily, plenty of terrace cafés overlooking gardens and beautiful parks are available to provide rest and a place to catch your breath again.

Lovely, interesting museum/history of influential Czech family.
May 2021 • Solo
Well worth an hour to wander round. An interesting audio tour on my phone was well worth downloading although was a bit glitchy- and sadly the musical instrument section was mistakenly in Czech in the English tour :(. Super to hear the family talk about their ancestry and enjoyed the objects they had on display as well as some beautiful art. A wonderful view from the balcony over the city was mesmerising.

Afternoon classical concert
Nov 2020
Take a slow stroll up to the palace and join a few members of the Philharmonic orchestra for an afternoon of classical favourites in a beautifully decorated gilt chamber. You will be transported to another time and place. A wonderful experience for lovers of fine music, or even those just curious to see inside the palace. Make sure to book ahead, it's popular

Lobkowicz Family Fortune
Oct 2019
The Lobkowicz Palace is the only privately owned building in the Castle complex.

Visit and experience the Lobkowicz Collections, the oldest and largest private art collections in Central Europe. The Lobkowicz family's fortune as displayed throughout the palace is very impressive.

The centuries old artwork, paintings by famous artists too many to name, famous composers' work collection , Mozart and Beethoven original scores.

The audio, that is narrated by the Lobkowicz family's young generation is wonderful, and every time we visit we learn more interesting details.

The Midday Classic Concerts start at 1pm. We enjoyed listening to classical music performance in the beautifully decorated concert hall with impressive 17th century ceiling .

The Palace Cafe with a terrace is popular with us because it offers wonderful views.

You may want to spend hours here and do it all, or just take an hour break for the concert, or visit the Cafe for the view and cup of coffee, if your time is limited.

It's always good to have a choice ....

Beautiful Palace with lovely rooms, interesting art, a well-done audioguide, friendly employees
Aug 2020
A palace dating back to the 16th century with a free (with ticket, of course!) audioguide narrated by the descendents of the first prince who'd had it built. The guide informs the visitor of the family history, the importance of the objects & works found in the palace in light of this history and tells various family anecdotes. Probably the best audioguide I've ever followed as it both enlightens and amuses.
The employees are friendly and I had the pleasure of chatting with one guard at the end of the visit, as she helped me to take pictures of a beautiful ceiling in the 3rd but last room. Do remember to look up as you go through.

Beautiful Building, with Unimpressive Collections
Aug 2019
It is a privately owned building within the castle grounds, and does not have very impressive collections. From the outside and inside, the architectural beauty and presence of this building is apparent.

Great museum in Prague castle area
Jun 2020
It is the only privately owned building in the Prague Castle, the palace and the museum displays a selection of pieces from the Lobkowicz Collections, paintings from Paul Rubens, Dieago Velázquez (Infanta of Spain) or famous artwork Haymaking by Pieter Brueghel the Elder. Music Collection holds over 5,000 items. Other rooms are decorative arts, millitary and huntimg equipment. The display labels both in the Czech and English. At cash box you can ask for free the audio guide, highly recommended. The museum open daily from 10:00 to 18:00, entrance fee 200 CZK. The part of the museum is Cafe offering Czech and International fare with some amazing view of Prague.

It's part of Prague Castle but it's separate
Sep 2019
Even thought it's called a palace - it was privately owned. The Lobkowicz family has kept it for centuries. The museum costs about $12 USD per person but they had a family "pack" for $28 for two adults and two children.

I have visited the palace with high expectations, but was disappointed with the collections, however the scene from the terrace is nice, provides panoramic view of the beautiful Prague.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We are glad you have enjoyed the exquisite 180° panoramic view from the terrace and the 30minute Prague Inspires Panorama Tour included with every audio guide. The concept of our museum at the Lobkowicz Palace is a family narrated audio tour, that guides visitors through the exhibition highlighting world-famous paintings by masters such as Canaletto, Brueghel the Elder, and Velázquez. Also on view are exceptional arms and armor and ceramics, including the largest surviving Delft dinner service in the world. We hope on your next visit, you can enjoy more that the museum has to offer. With kind regards, Veronika
