Your experience in Prague will never be complete if you do not see it from the top. Hillsides, stretched from the west to the north, provide spectacular views of greenish copper cupolas, narrow cobblestone streets, bridges connecting both river banks and green gardens from red-roof tops of centuries-old houses. Prague pulls you into its 1300 year old history. Walking up the hill or stairs to Prague Castle, the historical seat of Czech rulers and the majestic Saint Vitus Cathedral can leave you speechless (and out of breath). Luckily, plenty of terrace cafés overlooking gardens and beautiful parks are available to provide rest and a place to catch your breath again.

The Strahov Monastic Brewery is a superb brewery that offer's an excellent food and drinks range and is a brilliant place to visit while in Prague.
Housed in a 17th century brewery that has been fully restored and reopened in 2000 as a craft brewery with a restaurant which has a superb courtyard. The interior of this brewery is excellent with all of the brewing kettles and equipment on display and lots of superb seating option's both inside and outside in the courtyard.
We've visited here many times while visiting Prague as there beers are superb and this area of Prague is very picturesque. On our visit we had a few St.Norbert's beers which were superb and well priced. This is a very good place to visit as there beers on offer are superb and there meals top notch and if you get a chance to visit this area give it a look you won't be disappointed. So easy to find from Pohořelec tram stop it's only a short walk.(This is my first review of Strahov Monastic Brewery).

We had jumped the funicular upto Petrin Hill ,explored around that area and then decided to descend by foot back to city ,we stopped and visited The Strahov Monastic Brewery as we were thirsty and it was a really hot afternoon.
I love the look of the brewpub, housed in a 17th century brewery ,the interior is superb, shiny brewing vats prominently on display,an eye catching serving bar ,bench seating both inside and outside in their courtyard ,it's just a really special brewpub that I always look forward to visiting.
We were here on a Thursday afternoon ,we sat outside were one of the bar team took our order of a pale ale style beer from St Norbert's Brewery, these were served in excellent condition ,we soaked up the sunshine while sipping our beers.
My pale ale was really good,a crisp, well balanced pale ale ,hints of toffee,a delicious aroma and aftertaste ,a classic pale ale,it was just so good being in such a great brewpub enjoying a quality pale ale and being in such a great location.
We really enjoyed our pale ale's here,we only stayed for the one each before we moved on and as on every other visit to here we had a great time.
The Strahov Monastic Brewery is easy to locate in the Strahov Monastery Complex not too far from Prague Castle.
Opening hours are;
Monday to Sunday,10am till 10pm.
Well worth checking out if hours in the area.

What an amazing find this was. The bar has the brew vats alongside and this gives the most amazing aroma as you enter. The beer is to die for and a great selection to suit every taste and being Prague all ridiculously good value for money. Came back a second day for food and it was outstanding! Delicious onion soup made with beer and then a superbly cooked steak and enough chips to feed an army and all brilliant value for money in an amazing setting. Take the number 22 tram out of town for five stops and you’ll see the monastery. Don’t miss this hidden treasure.

We went for drinks and sat outside, you had to go in and order but there was one person serving and he was serving the waiters and us in between. Lots of people were coming in and then walking off and after the waiter wandered off we left as it was obvious we were not getting served. Someone took his place but must have just been a glass collector as they started washing glasses and not serving. You really need more bar staff. Shame as we went to the top of the hill to try here. Maybe the restaurant service is better

I arrived in the late afternoon early evening.
I started with a triple IPA beer which was quite good , than I ordered the onion soup, which was good and quite thick, I hoped for more than two toasts with cheese, that came with it , four would have been ideal.
Than i ordered the pork tenderloin, with plum shalot and mashed potatoes. This portion was a real disappointment. The meet was dry and the mashed potatoes didn't have any butter or creme and was quite dry and tasteless. I ordered tha beer ice cream which was good for first experience but i don't really like the sweet bitter combination.
About 6 hours later , my stomach started giving me trouble for a couple of hours , since I didn't have anything else to eat that day except for a few fruits that this meal was the only suspect.
To summarize , the prices were a bit pricey and quality was lacking in the main dish.
This restaurant should give higher quality food in accordance to it's prices and it's name.

We were staying close to the Brewery therefore tried it on our first night and ended up coming for dinner on 3 out of our 4 nights. we were in both the bar and restaurant. The rack of ribs would easily feed 2 and were excellent, pork schnitzel also excellent, as for beer the IPA definitely for me. The beer guide does recommend which beer best aligns to the food.

We had a coffe and a beer in this brewery and we were about to start to drink our drinks when the server already came with the bill. We said we haven’t finished yet, just wanted to Enjoy our stay when he aggressively made us pay with the face of “you are not welcomed here” with a painful breathe as we did not order food, almost kicking us out. This is not a service at all. If you want to enjoy your stay in Prague, just avoid this place. Worst experience here.

This brasserie is located near the Strakhov Monastery and is famous for its delicious beer. Therefore, after visiting the monastery, we came here. The place is tourist and we had to wait about 20 minutes outside to wait for our turn and get inside. So we drank the beer outside first. We sat on the second floor. The interior is ordinary, with reproductions of old advertising posters with beer. Served quickly enough. We took soup, goulash, everything turned out to be very tasty. But the most important thing here is great beer. Definitely worth a visit.

We came here on a recommendation from our local scooter tour guide when we asked about a good place for traditional food and a traditional Czech pint.

After going up in the Petrin Tower, this was an easy walk on our way back down in to the city.

I definitely did feel more traditional and the food was good, the beer was good and the setting was nice.

It's been 5 times that we have come to lunch there. Summer, like winter. Very pleasant.Depending on the season you can have a drink or eat outside or inside. Warm atmosphere, good service. Delicious local beer. You absolutely have to eat a pork gauge. 1kg therefore a hock for 2 or 3 people. Attention no support, order separately. Very correct price.
