Your experience in Prague will never be complete if you do not see it from the top. Hillsides, stretched from the west to the north, provide spectacular views of greenish copper cupolas, narrow cobblestone streets, bridges connecting both river banks and green gardens from red-roof tops of centuries-old houses. Prague pulls you into its 1300 year old history. Walking up the hill or stairs to Prague Castle, the historical seat of Czech rulers and the majestic Saint Vitus Cathedral can leave you speechless (and out of breath). Luckily, plenty of terrace cafés overlooking gardens and beautiful parks are available to provide rest and a place to catch your breath again.

- SSSNESUnited States450 contributionsGreat IPA!!Best beer I have had in Prague. Hazy IPA for me! Food was great too. Ribs where the meat is falling off the bone as it should be and tons of them! Good value for the cost. Its busy! We sat outside in December, but there were heat lamps and blankets. Its was doable. Inside is nice and arm if you are lucky enough to get to sit inside. Service is good. My husband liked his amber beer.Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten December 14, 2023

Hot food looked good but cold options we tried were exceptional - Beer Ice Cream is unusual but lovely. Excellent range of locally brewed beers. Prices reasonable (unlike adjoining Library and Abbey)Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 14, 2024

When we visit every year we come up here. In Jan 2023 we visited with friends and were unable to have a table in the brewery side so ate in the newer building. I was keen to visit with my Mum for her 80tg Birthday so emailed weeks in advance. On the day I took Mum round the library in same grounds and then our family of 10 people met for a delicious lunch. I had the goulash and dumplings with 2 large dark beers. It was absolutely delicious. I love the venue and the service is excellent. We will be back again in 2025 for sure.Visited March 2024Traveled with familyWritten March 31, 2024
- Pub Monster NeilLiverpool, United Kingdom78,404 contributionsGreat beers in.a beautiful brewpubMy twin brother and I were up in the wonderful Strahov Monastery Complex, after taking in all the wonderful sites up here we were in need of a cooling beer so we dropped into the Strahov Monastery Brewery, been here many times over the years, always had a good time and so it proved on our latest visit. I love the look of this brewpub, interior is superb, shiny beer brewing vats prominently on display, a great looking serving bar, lovely eclectic decor and furnishings and plenty of seating options spread throughout this brewpub both inside and outside looking out onto the busy and beautiful Strahov Monastery Complex, its just a great brewpub to unwind in. We were here on a Saturday afternoon, this brewpub was packed, we luckily managed to get a table were we ordered their dark beer ,these were served in excellent condition, we chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular brewpub. My beer was really good, dark, malty ,packed with flavour, very consistent from the first sip till the last sup, a classic dark Czech beer, its hardly surprising that this brewpub is so popular with beers served in this good a condition . We both really enjoyed our beers in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to Strahov Monastery Brewery we had a great time. Strahov Monastery Brewery is easy to locate in the Strahov Monastery Complex. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, open from 10am. I ordered off the restaurant menu and sat at a communal table. My server was cheerful, attentive, kind, and spoke perfect English. My schnitzel was delicious and a nice portion. Dessert was also very good. I’d return without hesitation.Visited May 2024Traveled soloWritten May 23, 2024
- Minna_fiHelsinki, Finland302 contributionsNice place to have lunchWe visited quickly the monastery, when it started raining. We went quickly to the monastery brewery and thought to have a beer. Before we got the drinks, we saw dishes the other customers were eating, and As the rain was getting heavier, we decided to have a bite. The food was good, the beer was toi, and the service was really good too, so I strongly recommend to visit the brewery, even you would not be a beerlover!Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 1, 2024
- jimborooney92 contributionsExcellent food and beerWe stopped here for lunch and a beer and weren't disappointed. I started with the excellent dark lager, but was blown away by the sakura amber ale. I think it is a special brew but hope they continue it because it is one of the most interesting beers I've ever tried. We decided to order the pork hock as it was on our list of things to try and we are glad we did it here. It was fantastic (2 of us shared)!Visited May 2024Traveled with familyWritten June 4, 2024

It was a busy lunchtime, and sharing picnic bench style tables is the norm. We shared a starter and a main (portion sizes in Prague are big!) washed down with a beer of course. We visited for lunch, arriving around 1pm and got the last outdoor table, but there is a large area inside as well. I arrived in the late afternoon early evening.
I started with a triple IPA beer which was quite good , than I ordered the onion soup, which was good and quite thick, I hoped for more than two toasts with cheese, that came with it , four would have been ideal.
Than i ordered the pork tenderloin, with plum shalot and mashed potatoes. This portion was a real disappointment. The meet was dry and the mashed potatoes didn't have any butter or creme and was quite dry and tasteless. I ordered tha beer ice cream which was good for first experience but i don't really like the sweet bitter combination.
About 6 hours later , my stomach started giving me trouble for a couple of hours , since I didn't have anything else to eat that day except for a few fruits that this meal was the only suspect.
To summarize , the prices were a bit pricey and quality was lacking in the main dish.
This restaurant should give higher quality food in accordance to it's prices and it's name.

We had a coffe and a beer in this brewery and we were about to start to drink our drinks when the server already came with the bill. We said we haven’t finished yet, just wanted to Enjoy our stay when he aggressively made us pay with the face of “you are not welcomed here” with a painful breathe as we did not order food, almost kicking us out. This is not a service at all. If you want to enjoy your stay in Prague, just avoid this place. Worst experience here.

We had jumped the funicular upto Petrin Hill ,explored around that area and then decided to descend by foot back to city ,we stopped and visited The Strahov Monastic Brewery as we were thirsty and it was a really hot afternoon.
I love the look of the brewpub, housed in a 17th century brewery ,the interior is superb, shiny brewing vats prominently on display,an eye catching serving bar ,bench seating both inside and outside in their courtyard ,it's just a really special brewpub that I always look forward to visiting.
We were here on a Thursday afternoon ,we sat outside were one of the bar team took our order of a pale ale style beer from St Norbert's Brewery, these were served in excellent condition ,we soaked up the sunshine while sipping our beers.
My pale ale was really good,a crisp, well balanced pale ale ,hints of toffee,a delicious aroma and aftertaste ,a classic pale ale,it was just so good being in such a great brewpub enjoying a quality pale ale and being in such a great location.
We really enjoyed our pale ale's here,we only stayed for the one each before we moved on and as on every other visit to here we had a great time.
The Strahov Monastic Brewery is easy to locate in the Strahov Monastery Complex not too far from Prague Castle.
Opening hours are;
Monday to Sunday,10am till 10pm.
Well worth checking out if hours in the area.

We went for drinks and sat outside, you had to go in and order but there was one person serving and he was serving the waiters and us in between. Lots of people were coming in and then walking off and after the waiter wandered off we left as it was obvious we were not getting served. Someone took his place but must have just been a glass collector as they started washing glasses and not serving. You really need more bar staff. Shame as we went to the top of the hill to try here. Maybe the restaurant service is better

After having a bad experience in a restaurant in the area, we stopped at the brewery restaurant in Strahov. They were helpful and friend from the moment we walked in. The main restaurant was full so they directed us to the bar/brewery area where they have long tables which was great for our group of 15. The only downside was that you have to order your food and drinks at the bar but they were so friends and everything was served quickly and efficiently so we were very happy. The food at the bar is limited as they do not have the full menu but enough things and everything everyone had was just wonderful. Especially the serving staff. A smile goes a long way!

This brasserie is located near the Strakhov Monastery and is famous for its delicious beer. Therefore, after visiting the monastery, we came here. The place is tourist and we had to wait about 20 minutes outside to wait for our turn and get inside. So we drank the beer outside first. We sat on the second floor. The interior is ordinary, with reproductions of old advertising posters with beer. Served quickly enough. We took soup, goulash, everything turned out to be very tasty. But the most important thing here is great beer. Definitely worth a visit.

The Brewery is situated inside the Monastery and we emailed in advance to book a table (advisable - it’s not that big and was full). There is a separate restaurant but wanted to eat lunch in the Brewery after seeing the Monastery. My husband had the best piece of steak - cooked to perfection and generous portion. Good choice of beers all brewed there. Good service. We actually turned up an hour early as took less time that we thought to see the Monastery and they managed to accommodate us. We had a lovely lunch here and highly recommend.

Very good beers. Fast service and tasty cuisine.
Pay attention to the instructions of the girl who takes reservations outside. We booked to have lunch at the restaurant and she made us sit in a separate location, where, however, the menu is much much smaller.
The cuisine is the same but the dishes are very different.

Надо ли бронировать места на четверг в районе 12 часов дня
Written February 22, 2016
Если не трудно забронировать - всегда лучше это сделать. В данном случае оно может и не понадобиться, но как то спокойнее будет с бронью

We were able to buy tickets on site when we visited without calling ahead or making any arrangements in advance. It was pretty simple and the staff was friendly and helpful.
