A short tram ride out of the beautiful city of Prague brings you to the fabulous Brevnovsky Klaster,a wonderful monastery that's both historic and beautiful.
Founded in 993 with the main abbey buildings constructed between 1708-1740 ,this beautiful religious site is home to several really wonderful looking buildings and two great brewpubs ,we jumped tram number 22 from Mala Strana ( Lesser Town ) ,we walked around the park area ,the lake is superb to view here ,we enjoyed the great looking buildings and we sampled beers in Klasterni Senk and Klasterni Sypka, all in all we had a wonderful visit here ,its easy to locate ,get tram 22 to stop Marketska .
Well worth checking out if you're planning a holiday to Prague.

All the reviews in TA are about the Strahov Monastery! But trust me I live there!
The Brevnov Monastery is something different!
First of all, it´s adress is Marketska 28.
You do get there by tram 22.
, tramstop brevnov.
It is a very old benedictine monastery partly restaurated with a beautifull barock church with painting by Brandl. The park is mostly open to the public but not the church anymore because of rusks of thefts, quite a plagie in Cz. Some visits are possible and the church is used for celebrations.
There is a nice hall in the monastery.
Nowadays there is a hotel and a very pleasant restaurant, Klasterni Senk.
The restaurant is cosy and popular.
Often reservatioms are needed.
With its open fire and decoration as a barn,
very relaxed and not expensive.
Other reviewers talk about the library at Strahov Monastery. This is one of the most beautifull in the world. But it is overcrowded and a bit overexploited.
It features in many movies as the library of the Pope!
Strahov monastery is on the castle at tramstop Pohorelec, line 22.
Brevnov is just outside Prague, on the same line. Its also impressive but not for tourists in a hurry.

This Monastery is set in beautiful parkland where when we visited on a Sunday locals were walking their dogs, picnicking and playing with their kids. All in all a very happy scene.
The grounds of the monastery are well worth exploring with charming gardens (some in need of a little tlc) and look in to the restored Orangery now a contemporary art gallery.
Add to that a fantastic restaurant and bar in some of the old stable buildings and you are on to a winner for a pleasing afternoon out. The 22 tram takes about twenty or so minutes to get you there from central Prague. On that journey there are some amazing vistas as you climb the Castle Hill. You also get to ride past Prague Castle and the Strahov Monastery- so go on make an afternoon of it.
If you’re going in summer it’s worth noting that it is cooler up in the hills. Something we very much appreciated on the recent 32 degree day!!

Beer here was really nice, staff was fast, food was tasty, the place is quite far from the center, but its in a nice park, the brewery is in old Monastery. The semidarc lager was best I have ever had, it was perfect.

Brevnov Monastery is a wonderful place to visit in Prague as not only is it a great place to visit to admire the wonderful monastery and it's well kept gardens complete with a lake ,it also serves some of the tastiest beers in Prague and offers a great Czech meal menu.
The brewery part of this monastery is a rustic affair with great decor and furnishings ,it's cozy and inviting and also offers plenty of seating options both inside and outside on their superb Terrace.
We were here on a Friday afternoon ,we had been to the wonderful Strahov Monastery and decided to jump the tram from there to here,it's only a short ride,we got a nice table which was lucky as this place was packed ,we ordered their own brewed beer while we checked out the menu, our beers arrived and we opted to have soup in bread bowl and this soup was just Superb, the soup was tasty, thick and filling and coupled with our delicious beers made for a wonderful dining experience.
After our meal we decided to have one more beer before moving on and as on every other visit to here we had a great time.
Brevnov Monastery is relatively easy to locate by jumping tram number 22.25.97 to stop Brevnovsky Klaster which drops you off facing the monastery were you will find this superb monastery and brewpub.
A great place to visit and well worth checking out.

We live between here and Strahov monasteries. We found that monastery really disappointing so we were hoping for better here. We had the chance to visit as we had booked to go to the restaurant here- we got there early and went for a wander around.
It is hard to see the monastery and the grounds from the main road nearby- which is a good thing as it means it is hard to see the road from the monastery! You could be anywhere.
The grounds are beautiful here, the monastery buildings are beautiful, the restaurant is great!

To escape the hustle and bustle of the busy tourist centres of Prague it's just so good jumping on a tram and in a relatively short tram ride your in a much more peaceful and tranquil district of Prague.
Brevnovsky Klaster is one such place I love to visit, not only is it a beautiful monastery complex to visit but it's also a great place to enjoy their own brewed beers and sample a meal from their great meal menu.
Brenovsky Klaster has some serious history attached to it,founded in 993 with most of the rest of the arch abbey dating from 1708 and 1740,its such a beautiful looking building set in superbly kept grounds complete with it's own lake system,I love to hop tram number 22 from Malostranske Namesti up to stop Brevovsky Klaster which drops you off practically by the monastery and brewpub, they have two great taverns in here namely Klasterni Senk and klasterni Sypka were you can enjoy their superb Benedictine ales and sample local Czech cuisine.
A wonderful monastery and garden area, well worth checking out if your planning a holiday to Prague.

I came to the neighbouring Klašterní Šenk restaurant for lunch and had time for a look around afterwards. The church of the monastery appears to open only for services so I could only peer through the glass doors of the entrance.
I had a look too at the Hotel Adelbert in the grounds and the exterior of the Brewery. Then on to the Pavilion and Orangerie, which is now fully restored and in use as an art gallery. The photographer involved was not all that interesting but it is a beautiful venue for that kind of event.
Unfortunately, I had to get back to the hotel as a taxi was coming to pick me up to go to the airport. So this was a very brief visit.

Went on the advice of a local. Were too late to admire the scenery; went straight for the main event. Tasty and hearty meal of roast duck breast (a Czech specialty) with two kinds of cabbage and two kinds of bread dumplings (how many kinds can there be?! Lots, it turns out). Liver pate, mushroom soup, and baguette all also delicious. Real standout was the beer, brewed right there. Ah, the beer....
Service was very friendly; the waiter even helped us avoid over-ordering, which we easily could have done.
Highly recommended.
