Neighborhood: Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighborhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.

It was pouring rain and we took cover at the first jewelry store we came upon. It is just steps from the Astronomical Clock, in Old Town, heading towards the Charles Bridge… Just a few doors down from UPrince Restaurant and Hotel. We had planned on picking up a small momento of our family trip… The dark red garnets are everywhere in this area of town and I urge you to stay away from this store. They all make it seem like you are getting a deal, but do your homework and shop around. If from the US, they love getting US dollars for their exchange. These are not expensive stones, so do not pay much for them. I purchased two rings and two pendants with sterling chains. They ripped me off with a smile on their face. When they break out the calculator, it's negotiation time. Pay HALF of what they offer you at the final time. NO MORE. The stores that look less "fancy" and advertise huge discounts, are actually much better than this legitimate looking establishment. DO NOT SHOP HERE.

We understood this place was the most trustworthy place to buy garnet jewelry. My wife chose a lovely ring, but it was too big. The large center stone wasn't too dark and matched the surrounding stones perfectly. They said they would size it and to return the next day. The ring was still too big, but they insisted it had been sized. Upon closer review, it wasn't the same ring. The center stone was much too dark, but we couldn't tell as well under the bright lights of the store. A Mother's Day memento ruined!

Part of the country’s biggest jewelle- ry chain, specialising in Bohemian garnet, with a huge range of gold and silver rings, brooches, cuf inks and necklaces, all featuring the small, dark blood-red stones There is also pearl and diamond jewellery and less expensive pieces set with the dark green semi-precious stone known in Czech as vltavín (moldavite

Teplice is a small town near Prague. Garnets here are mined by a single company called Garnet Turnov. It is the only company authorized by the government to mine garnets in the Czech Republic. This is the reason the prices are exorbitantly high. You can buy beautiful Bohemian jewelery set in gold snd silver. They have outlets in Dlouhá and Panská street. The designs are awesome.

Tip: If you cannot afford the garnet pieces go for the cheaper semi-precious Moldovite which the Czechs call Vltavín.

I visited at Turnov head shop from Prague for a long way, long time, to buy some gifts.
I am engaged in jewelry relations.
This shop is the lowest.
1st-class stores do not conduct such racial discrimination!
Even if I asked the sellers many time, They didn't show me any goods.
It's clear from sellers attitude that this company has such a policy.

They do offer deals and bargain. They even told me no tax if you pay in cash, card means they will take tax but give a tax certificate I can claim at airport.
But i realised the Duty Free at Vaclava Prague airport is better and prices more reasonable.

I have been a customer of this Granat shop since 2001, call in every time I visit Prague. I always find lovely products to bring home to Australia, in the jewellery range and in glass and crystalware embellished with garnets. I have brought home a whole range of beautiful MASKL and Rueckl products over the years, for our own collection and gifts for our sons and friends.
The shop assistants have always been exceptionally helpful, keeping items for me when necessary and at times arranging a delivery of crystal-ware not in stock momentarily in the shop to arrive before my departure from Prague. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

As a Czech-born I fully appreciate the tradition and quality of Czech garnets and know that at Granat one gets only genuine Czech products from Turnov.
Yes, there are many shops with garnet jewellery in Prague, but beware that many are offering garnets from sub-standard, even non-Czech sources and without Certificate of authenticity.
I admit to feeling offended when reading ill-informed complaints about the prices at Garnet from persons without knowledge of Czech garnets and where the genuine product comes from.
Like with everything else, there is no substitute for quality.

I bought four items from the store near the Old Town Square. When I got home I went online and the SAME items shipped to me to the US would have cost HALF what I paid in store. This store is a scam.

I bought a beautifull silver ring with granat stone. Unfortunately, I have an accident and I lost the Red stone of the ring. So,I sent an email to customer service of company Granat Turnov and they solved the problem immediately. They repair my ring and sent it back to me. It was very professional and friendly behavior. I'm absolutely satisfied with my experience. I suggest it!!!

Good selection of garnets at a fair price. A little hard to find off of the main tourist routes but worth the walk if looking for quality.

I wish I had visited this excellent shop before I feel into the garnet trap in the centre of Prague!
This is the only accredited shop and service and knowledge here is excellent.
