Address
Neighborhood: Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighborhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.

Gorgeous interior, one room lovelier than the next, take the guided tour..
Sep 2021
This building has a lovely interior, I took the guided tour after remembering how much I enjoyed the one I took my first time in Prague. The paintings and decorations in the rooms are just beautiful, the guide's enthusiasm and willingness to point out small but significant details made the tour even more interesting...
I wouldn't recommend eating in the cafe there, we did not have a good experience there, the staff was inattentive and the cheesecake was one of the worst I've ever tasted....

5 star experience!
Sep 2021 • Solo
5 stars! The chandeliers, art, and gorgeous clock are enough to lure you in but the food, presented gorgeously is what gets you to come back again! This is a true European experience with fresh ginger tea, foie gras, potatoes, cheese plates, steak, and trout dishes made to impress. It’s also in a hopping area in Prague!

Stunning architecture, amazing exhibition
Sep 2021 • Friends
For people that love Art Nouveau, there is an important event going on in Prague right now. This amazing building serves as a perfect backdrop for a large exhibition of the artist Alphonse Mucha’s distinctly stylized and decorative theatrical posters. Included is an animated tribute to his monumental canvases known as The Slav Epic, depicting the history of the Slavic people. One can also closely examine a replica of his stained - glass window from St. Vitus cathedral. Tickets for this exhibition can be purchased online. Event are starting to be planned for the concert hall. The restaurant on the right and the café on the left of the entrance are opened, but the restaurant inside the Municipal House remains closed. Face masks are mandatory inside.

Stunning architecture
Sep 2021
This Art Nouveau building completed in 1911 is located on Republic Square next to the Powder Gate. The exterior of the building is beautifully decorated. You can admire the stunning mosaic work over the entrance.

This Municipal House is a civic building that houses Smetana Hall that is an impressive concert venue in Prague. Besides the guided tours, you can visit the cafes and restaurants located in the building.

Homage to Prague
Oct 2019
Opulent inside, restored to its original glory outside. Art Nouveau at its best !
The original Mosaic, that is called " Homage to Prague " is on the front of the building, high on top. The Mosaic is set between two groups of allegorical statues symbolizing the Degradation and Resurrection of the People.

The Smetana concert hall is beautiful and an evening performance there is memorable.

I had my high school prom here, hard to believe, but true.
My husband and I had dinner over the years in the two restaurants here , and enjoyed the Cafe in the afternoon.

The grand stairway leading upstairs is roped off, the upstairs spaces open only to paying tours.
One day, I will take a tour, just to see the grand ballroom I used to dance the night away ...

Till next time ...

A gorgeous Art Nouveau building housing a concert hall & temporary exhibits
Aug 2020
Having decided to walk from the old city center to the new Contemporary & Modern art museum (and a long walk it is!) I found myself in front of this gorgeous Art Nouveau building all decorated with stained glass. You can go in and look at the staircase, lamps and even the stained glass above the ticket selling booth.
I learned that it housed a concert hall and to my even greater pleasure a temporary Mucha exhibit starting on my last day in Prague and which I was just able to take in.
The exhibit was mainly of his early prints in France and his advertising posters, many of them (if not all (?)) were lent by Lendl the Czech tennisman who has amassed a great collection of Mucha's work.
There is also, housed in the same building, an Art Nouveau restaurant with the most exquisit lamps and other decorations. A great place for lunch, tea/coffee or dinner (the food is fairly priced and quite good) and bask in the luxury of a century ago.

Exquisite architecture
Jul 2020
Next to the powder Tower, this is a building not to be missed because of it's beauty and also because of it's history. Lovely decoration specially on the outside balcony will draw your attention.
Unfortunately we did not manage to go inside but I am sure it has quite a nice interior as well.

The building is beautifully lit at night and the artwork out front is still visible. I didn't go inside but the amazing artwork on the building made me stop and stare at it for a bit.

Must Go Inside the Building!!!!
Dec 2019
Should have visited inside but I don't have the chance.
1. Love the building style as it is pretty different from other buildings in Prague.
2. If you have the chance, go inside and listen to the concert. It would be great complementing the architecture style.
3. Enjoy :)
