We had been told to visit the Art Deco café, for its splendid surroundings and cakes. We had an early dinner, to the sound of a piano and surrounded by the beauty of a bygone age. A bit pricey but well worth it. The cakes looked fantastic but chose the apple strudel as a pud and were not disappointed.

A beautiful hall. Many paintings by Mucha and richly decorated plaster works. Very grand and some nice Cafe and restaurants on ground floor. The music was nice and not full so tickets available right up to the performance.

This grand building is one of the most beautiful sights in Prague. We took the hour-long tour, which felt much shorter. The time flew by as we gazed upon room after room of Art Nouveau splendor. I am only surprised that this tour isn't more frequented. We were able to book the 13:00 tour at 11:30 and I believe that... More

I was disappointed when I came here because the guided tour was fully booked until Friday (I went on Wednesday). Nevertheless, the architecture and the design interior in the lobby were amazing. One of the best example of art nouveau in Prague.

This building is an outstanding example of Art-Nouveau architecture. The external features, especially the mosaic fronting the Republic Square, are superb, but there are real jewels inside. Do a guided tour if you can. If you can get to a concert in the Smetana Hall, which takes up the centre of the building, you're in for a real treat. The... More

Astounding building and history - take a tour if you can ... We were able to get into the "private rooms" which are just the most stunning bits of architecture, furnishings, tapestries, fabrics, etc. ... An orchestra was practicing Smetana during our tour in the main concert hall and, while we couldn't go in it, you could peek through the... More

This is a true stunner in Prague. We took the tour (which was in English) and it was absolutely some of the best time we spent in Prague. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and provided an in-depth overview of each of the rooms we visited. This is truly something to see so definitely consider taking the tour. Each of the... More

The most beautiful building in Prague. Everything in this building is breathtaking. All Jugendstil details. Drink a coffee, go to a concert: you won't be disappointed

I take it we are talking about the Obecni Dům? This is one of the highlights of Prague in terms of ambience. Don't miss it. Only thing, they don't do cocktails in the cafe, but they do do nice cake.

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighborhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighborhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
