We’d stumbled across this church on Trip Advisor (probably the same as you just have) and decided to find it on our trip to Prague.
Yes, it’s a little hike up the side of Petrin Hill but you won’t be disappointed. It’s just amazing. Could be my favourite thing I’ve discovered in Prague so far.

When we checked out a Wiki page about Petřín in Russian, we discovered a couple of phrases about this church. What was interesting there - it is a traveling church. St. Michael Church traveled two times: one time - to a richer village, from Velyki Luchki (Великі Лучки in Ukrainian) to Medvědovce (Медведевцы in Ukrainian), second time - to Prague.
Then we decided to descend Petřín through Kinsky Gardens and came across St. Michael Church! It was a late evening, darkness all around, and no one was there - either in the church or around. Near the main entrance, there are the facts about St. Michael Church, its history and architecture in different languages (unfortunately, no Russian). Despite the church should have been opened according to the working hours, it was closed. However, we were still able to see icons and a Christmas tree because there was a light inside. This church gave us a thrill really.
I don't think it's a must see if you are in Prague for the first time but if you walk through Kinsky Gardens you should visit St. Michael Church, at least walk around and read its history.

Beautiful little wooden church on the outskirts of Prague. We came by foot from the side of Petrin Hill and got terribly lost, but the church is well worth the stumbling around in the woods!

St Michael’s Ukrainian Church is hidden away among the trees in the west end of the Kinsky Gardens. We had to work hard to find it there are not many maps on the route we took into the park. It took about 20 minutes to walk from the castle district to get there, but was worth it. The more we walked the quieter it got.

Its an all wooden church, quite small, a chapel really, and very dark in colour. Its set in a small clearing about halfway up the steep side of the gardens. Apparently it was built in the 1670s, but moved to this site in 1929, when the valley in the Ukraine was flood as part f a hydro dam project.

Its is not open to the public, but we were lucky, there was a family having drinks with the priest after holding a christening in the church, we didn’t want to intrude so we didn’t go inside, but it was nice to know that it is a working church. This is as close to the Ukraine as many of us will get for a few years yet.

Great concert but not well attended, 2 soloists a pianist and saxophonist who was great. Spoilt a bit a sad to compete with karaoke from bar next door til the pianist sorted it out! A bit over priced for the time and lack of other musicians but enjoyable non the less.

It is a real gem. A 17th century Ruthenian church, built in wood, and relocated into the hillside park in 1929. It's not easy to find because there are very few signs in the park. It's a lovely church and apparently you can see inside by prior arrangement. More details on the explanatory sheet (photo posted).

Just had to go in search of this intriguing church, totally hidden among the trees in Kinsky Gardens on the less ventured side of Petrin Hill. No obvious signposts so you have to traverse a few winding paths, but once discovered, this church is a treasure to behold, even though it was closed to the public. You can take a peak into the dark interior through the small windows. Great to get away from throng of tourists is more frequented parts of Prague.
