The area
Neighborhood: Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighborhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.

Prague is the most beautiful city I've ever seen. We were on a viking 3 day extension and it was my favorite part of the trip. People are friendly and cosmopolitan. Great clothes!

One of the joys of wandering around the Old Town street's is that on every turn you find something to take your interest and St Castulus Square is one such beautiful place to relax in.
Dominated by the beautiful Kostel Sv Hastala ( Church Of St Castulus) from which the square derived it's name, the church is just so beautiful, very photogenic indeed, we dropped into Restaurace Speciál were we enjoyed some great crafted beers and we also popped into Lokal Bar were we sampled some great Pilsner Urquell beers.
The square is very peaceful, the architecture beautiful and it's a square I highly recommend you visit if your in the area.
Well worth checking out.

This is a pretty area with good restaurants and bars centred around the St Castulus church. I would not bother to seek out St. Castulus square, as there are more spectacular areas of Prague, but if you are nearby or fancy one of the restaurants, it’s worth taking in the surroundings.

You will be surprised by one thing. The square, named after St. Castulus, is remarkably close to the hustle and bustle of old town but it still manages to remain quite isolated.

We discovered the place accidently while walking from our hotel in Prague 8 to the old town. Quite a revelation. Its peaceful, calm and presents a great insight into Prague of the bye gone era...

This area gets its charm of the fact that, unlike Josefov was largely demolished and rebuilt in the 19th century, this quarter with its original alleys and the Church mentioned in writing in 1234, this neighborhood has its own charm. From this square streets and alleys in all directions. Originally this square was named "U sv Haštala", then the square belonged to adjacent street popularly called "Hastalsky plácek" (Castulus spot). The plot of land around the church was used as a cemetery until 1784, then finally decommissioned in 1832. The official name Haštalske Square dates from from 1928.
