We already enjoyed Rob's tour quite a while ago and unfortunately never reviewed it up to now (shame on us...). First of all I must say that we are the young (thanks for that) couple that took Rob's tour together with an Australian family, which unfortunately gave Rob a very bad review - the only one he ever got. And, as far as our opinion counts, the only bad review he should ever receive. And even this one is definitely not deserved.
We enjoyed it from the very first minute, learned a lot of interesting facts about the architectural styles that left their footprints in Prague and found Rob to be an absolutely entertaining, funny and pleasant guide who gives you the feeling to walk through and experience the city accompanied by a friend.
Of course, halfway we had a stop at a pub which I found in no way inappropriate as beer is certainly a part of czech culture. Furthermore, we walked about 3 hours, so any break should be welcome at some point :-). That we had a coffee/hot chocolate instead of beer (which I would not refer to if it weren't for the bad review...) was for one thing due to the fact that my girldfriend NEVER drinks alcohol and second, that it was late december, fairly freezing and we were both rather longing for a hot drink. By the way, I'm pretty sure that everybody paid his stuff and even if not, a beer in prague is at about 1 €....
So basically two thinks: @rosey1007: we both deeply respect your opinion and of course, everybody experienced people, cultures, behaviour, etc. in a very different way. So we can perhaps imagine that maybe Rob's style was just not a perfect match for your expectations - therefore please see this review as a review pro Rob and not against you.
@ Rob: thumbs up! It was a great experience, very much fun and honestly a door opener for us to keep on supporting the concept of free tours also in other cities, as recently in Riga - where we now wrote the review immediately ;-)

We joined Rob's tour in August 2017 and couldn't recommend it enough. Our initial expectations were it would be informative but dry just like most other tours of it's type but we were so mistaken! Rob has a very good vibe and really knows his stuff. He knows to vary the pace so that you're not too overloaded with information but not bored at the same time. He also seems to know all the "secret"/ not very well known stuff about the city! Highly recommended!

The tour was very informative and very entertaining. Rob spoke fluent English and was flexible in where we went. He definitely knew his subject matter. The tour was well worth doing and set us up for a good couple of days exploring the city.

My family of husband and 2 children found Rob's tour the worst we experienced in our 6 weeks travelling around Europe.
His knowledge was patchy at best, in some basic instances he was simply incorrect (I knew this because I was already quite familiar with Prague). His jokes were inappropriate and caused my 14 year old daughter embarrassment. Indeed a young couple taking the tour with us also looked uncomfortable.
Perhaps the oddest thing he did was to announce half-way through the tour that it was time for a beer and he then walked us into the bar we were coincidentally standing in front of. I thought this a little strange and while my husband & I had a beer, the other couple looked very puzzled and had a coffee! When I discovered later that my husband had paid for Rob's beer I was incensed! What a great scam to get free beers!
Of course no 'free' tour guide is ever free as a substantial tip is always expected, which is fine, but this time we gave it grudgingly.
All in all pick another tour guide, we wish we had.

In response to your bizarre review, I would like to mention the following.
1. As is visible from the 28 other reviews, all other clients
were satisfied with my knowledge of Prague, history and architecture and appreciated my humor.
2.In the case my clients find my knowledge of Prague history and architecture insufficient, there always welcome to exercises their freedom to leave the tour at any time.
3.Tipping on my tours is purely VOLUNTARY, and in now way has anyone been ever obliged directly or indirectly to give a donation.
4. My clients have never been manipulated into taking breaks in any bar or restaurant. It is an Architectural tour, not a pub crawl.and are always welcome to say NO if they in any way feel pressured to do anything that is inconvenient for them.
5. I have never asked, nor expected my clients to pay for my refreshment, and if they did,it was certainly from their own free will.
In my humble opinion your review is more descriptive of an unfortunate encounter that may have occurred to you in Prague, if it ever did.

My sister and I arrived at black powder tower 25 minutes early for tour Sunday May 27, 2018. .We waited another 15 min but no one arrived. I had been worried we didn't get a proper confirmation from his site, Rob emailed I was missing his emails and we were scheduled.
Although he had not taken any money in prepayment, I was very disappointed by such unprofessional conduct. I had left him my sister's email for contact when I asked for a confirmation. Sincerely Dorothy Callahan

Dear Dorothy,
thank you for your review
I certainly understand your disappointment.
As I provide exclusive private tours for small groups, I always reconfirm the time and date with the client a week in advance , especially , when the tour is booked 3 months in advance.
As is visible from over 150 excellent review, this was a singular occurrence.
Thank you for understanding.

This 3 hour guide was for free and as everyone would have expected it to not be as good as the paid ones (I did as well). But I was greatly mistaken . Robert guide was filled with knowledge , humour and very friendly atmosphere . All the others Paid/Unpaid guides are boring . This one was different. Robert knew a lot more about everything then the guide I took before him, yet he was very funny and friendly. This 3 hours were very well spent. And Robert taught me a lot of interesting and new things about prague: the Architecture , History . He also threw a lot of jokes into all of that which were very funny. When there was nothing to talk about he talked about usual things with us. There were 4 of us there and the atmosphere was like if we were good friends on a tour and one of us was just a lot more Inteligent . The only bad thing was that I unfortunately had no money to pay to Robert . But he did not even asked for them . He only took picure of us (btw. where did you uploaded it Robert?) At the end I asked for directions to the train station he gave me the directions we shook hands and said goodbye :)

While I found some of the tour informative, a lot of it felt disjointed with little context. The most engaging and thorough parts of the tour were the visits to two churches are the beginning.
Suffice to say things went downhill when the guide made a pretty distasteful (and unfunny) joke about my appearance based on my email profile.
I chose the tour based on its excellent reviews, so hopefully our experience was simply an aberration.

Due to the layered urban development of historical Prague, it is not possible to visit the sites on the tour in a historically chronological order.
But that said, all major European styles are covered, both in interiors and exteriors and show unique example of Romanesque to Gothic, Baroque and Art Deco.
Further, the tours always deliver on an visually informative content as is visible from other reviews.
The evaluation of humor and profile photos are both personally subjective.opinion.

This was probably one of the best days of a two week trip in central Europe. Went with a small group to Czesky Krumlov with Rob. He supplied us with water, fresh fruit and chips; made "pit stops" and saw to our comfort. In terms of the tour, he combines his knowledge of architecture with history; we all walked away with a deeper understanding and appreciation for what we were looking at. Additionally he is a lively and fun person to be around. I can't recommend his tours enough whether it is in the city or out!

This was an exceptional and memorable tour of Prague! The tour started promptly at the convened time and place. Then, thanks to Rob's eclectic explanations, we began our exploration of the city's architecture and history from the immemorial time of its founding to the present. We leisurely walked the famous and the hidden corners and streets of Prague quarters (Castle Quarter, Old Town, New Town, Little Quarter & the Jewish Quarter) while Rob deciphered for us the styles and the history/trivia behind the buildings' façades. His explanations were tailored to our specific interests and questions and were thorough, fun, and entertaining. A short stop at a little quaint place for refreshments & artisanal beer midway through our 5-hour tour was a welcomed opportunity to rest and talk some more about the city. Overall, an unforgettable way to experience Prague and a must-do while there!

This tour was fantastic! Rob is this eclectic mix of an incredible understanding and passion of Prague architecture, history, and humor. I was particularly appreciative of the fact that he was very attentive to my mom who is a bit older and can't walk as fast, etc. - he made sure she was always involved and spoke loudly and clearly so she didn't have an issue hearing him. (Might sound like small things - but it made a huge difference for her) - Had my mom been able, we would have absolutely extended to the longer tour - maybe next time. This tour isn't just about looking at buildings, it's about spending time with someone who is wholly immersed in history and how that history, politics, etc. evolved the buildings, streets and the city. Highly recommend this tour.

Rob does these 1:1 or small groups. We spent about 2-1/2 hours.
