Customer service
Oct 2020
Based on my good team-building experience, I have ordered two gift voucher for my kids, due to COVID risk kids were not able to redeem the voucher. Hence I have requested Chefparade staff to extend the voucher, unfortunately even in this difficult time to extend the voucher for a minimum of 6 months, I need to pay 40% extra fees. Which I found non-customer friendly.
Though I understand all the businesses are suffering from COVID, the future of business is good customer experience.
I wish good luck to Chefparade, in these difficult COVID times.

Just what I wanted
Apr 2019 • Solo
I wanted to cook traditional Czech dishes and that's what we did. This hands-on class and market tour was fun and informative. I now have recipes to use for family dinners not found in my extensive cookbook collection. I like to take cooking classes wherever I travel and this one is as good as I've taken around the globe. If you like to cook this class will enhance your trip.

Wonderful Cooking Class
Jul 2018
Had a wonderful cooking class here. When you book the class first, you can get to pick the dishes you want to make. The class started with a tour of the market right next door as well as trying a little Czech pastry to round it off. Then it is off to the kitchens. The chef was very fun and great to work with, talking us through the course bit by bit. Highly recommended!

Extremely unsatisfied
From reading the other reviews for this class, I was extremely excited to book this activity. It seemed like a great thing to do & that we would learn and do a huge amount, due to their advertised ‘hands-on’ role. This was extremely far from the truth.

The market tour was essentially a waste of time. We were showed to stalls and told ‘these sell x because they are in season’. There was no interaction with the stalls or actual purchasing of ingredients. No information about what to look for and what not to look for.

When we actually got to the kitchen to begin ‘cooking’, it was beyond basic. Everything was pre-prepared aside from cutting some vegetables and frying some onions. Most ingredients were actually frozen, including the mushrooms and bread, which made no sense to me due to the market being right next door. Even the meat we used was cheap chicken thighs which was completely precooked for us, and we didn’t interact with it at all.

I’m so genuinely upset at how disappointing my experience was considering the price we paid, which rivals the same as a tasting menu in some of the top restaurants in Prague. The ‘course’ was even finished at 11.30am instead of the advertised 1.30pm.

I’m not sure if I just got extremely unlucky or if I had different expectations, however I know for sure that I’ll be doing more research before booking this sort of activity again.

Maybe I'm spoiled....?
Dec 2018 • Couples
This is the 7th or 8th cooking class and/or market tour I've taken in my travels. I had fun but walked away wanting just a little more. More ? More interaction at the market.....I didn't really gleam much info from "Joe". The cooking was enjoyable and I did learn how to make streudel but I hate to admit I was a little bored....and this comes from someone who can stand at a stove and cook all day! I can't figure out what went wrong....perhaps too many people in the class (10?) Perhaps too simple of a menu (didn't learn any new tricks?). I'm not sure but I wanted to learn something when I walked away and don't think I did.

Great recipes easy enough to make for yourself at home!
Dec 2018 • Couples
While in Prague recently I had the chance to join one of the tourist cooking courses at Chefparade. It started with a fun tour of the market located next to their facility and then we dug in. We made a 3-course meal consisting of a garlic soup, paprika chicken and dumplings and apple strudel. Everything is made with the group and the help of the chef teaching the class. I found this mildly disappointing but it was fun to get the teamwork and enjoy the meal as a team at the end. The food was delicious and they were dishes that I would make for myself at home.

Be warned that drinks are not included in the price of the course. I was mildly frustrated by the fact that our chef openly offered water, soda, wine and beer without a reminder of this and then everyone was asked for a list of what they drank at the end of the course to tally up the bills. It just seemed a little dishonest.

Hi April, thank you for your review! I am glad you enjoyed the class. :) I am sorry you think we are dishonest since you were informed in an e-mail that you would cook in a group as well as about the fact that the price does not include drinks nor the wine pairing experience. Good luck with cooking the Czech cuisine! :)

Get out of a tour and cook!
Looking for something different than a tour? Don't get me wrong, I love tours, but for something different, do a cooking class. We made Garlic Soup, Roasted Pork with dumplings, and strudel. Absolutely delicious!

I really enjoyed the cooking class - the walk through the market was excellent, the teacher was knowledgeable and we met some very interesting people too! They sent the recipes after which was nice.

Recipes we want to make at home
Vladimir is a real pro, star of hundreds of YouTube videos. The cooking was hands-on and the results were delicious. The traditional Czech soup will definitely make an appearance at our house in the winter. The teaching kitchen takes a little time to find in the maze of market halls so allow an extra 10 minutes. Most of all, the class is fun. Come hungry.

Fabulous Cooking Class
Sep 2018 • Friends
What a fun time we had with our group of 6 and 3 new people...totaling 9. Yazan was our instructor and what a delight he was. We prepared 4 different recipes in a short amount of time....potato soup, goulash, dumplings and 2 flavors of strudel. Yazan was a wonderful teacher and very patient with some of us who are somewhat challenged in slicing and dicing. We walked through the market before starting our classes and Yazan was very informative about the different varieties of vegetables we were seeing. The market is not right in town, so allow some time to get there, but 2 of the people actually walked from town. In addition to the produce and meat market, there are other items being sold by vendors in kiosks outside. We enjoyed a fun morning and a terrific meal. Thank you Chefparade and Yazan. (We wanted to take him home with us.)
