Neighborhood: Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighborhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.

The food was very nice and also the complete atmosphere of the location. We had the bad luck to meet a waiter who was an absolutely arrogant guy. It was almost impossible to get his attention. Twice he forgot to serve the wine that we ordered. He didn’t mind at all when we complained about it. My advice to the manger of Slavia is to send him for a traineeship to cafe Louvre. They know all about good hospitality. To future guests take a look for the nice interior and walk 200 meters further on the road for cafe Louvre.

On the first evening of our stay in Prague we went to this restaurant, just opposite the National Theatre, therefore almost on the bank of the Vltava.
The restaurant has modern but not too modern decor, recalling the atmosphere of the 1970s.
As for dinner, the package included pea cream with a splash of sour cream, roast with side dishes, and a 400 ml mug of beer (Budweiser).
Overall our meal was satisfactory, as was the service.

The service in this restaurant is non existant. We arrived and the manager asked us to wait a couple of minutes and never came back.

After we managed to get someone’s attention to find a seat, we ordered drinks and food. We got twice as many forks and knives as we needed just thrown on the table for us to arrange. After 45 minutes, the waiter is coming back to confirm our order as they didn’t even start to prepare it. We obviously left. The personel is cold, careless and unprofessional.

The manager is galavanting around and being pretty much useless. He clearly does not manage a thing.

Waited for 20 minutes before a waitress said Hello, while the place was two-thirds empty and 5 waiters were chatting at a cash desk…
I asked for a menu… waited another 10 minutes before they took the order.. The waiter seemed like he had party all night or As half drunk.

Food was good however overpriced for Prague… but this is a tourist spot right… so it’s allowed to screw them out

Start or end your day at the Slavia Cafe (Kavárna in Czech) and Bar, and enjoy the super-delicious cakes and the superb views of the nearby National Theater and the Vltava river.
But even if it is late in the evening, and there are almost no outside views, enjoy the cafe's art-deco decoration and many photos reminding everyone of its past and present most famous customers, among which is Václav Havel.
Not many tourists, fortunately! Check the site: [--]

Beautiful art-deco surroundings with photographs of presidents and heads of state that have eaten in this café since it’s inception in the 1890s. Through the windows you can view the Prague Castle, the river, and the National Theatre/Opera house! The food was very, very good and our waiter was attentive and helpful. The beet carpaccio and the smoked salmon pancake were our favourite items but everything (mushroom risotto, pork belly, and chicken breast) was all delicious. The desserts were homemade and worth loosening the belt a little to make room after the generous dinner portions. The “caskets” with whipped cream and caramel sauce were unlike anything we’ve ever tried before - and utterly delicious! We finished off the meal with an order of absinthe (just because there is a haunting oil painting with absinthe as the theme hanging in the restaurant) and enjoyed the live music (grand piano). Including a bottle of Czech late harvest wine, this meal was far less then the cost of very basic dinner in our home city. I highly recommend giving it a try.

During a 5-day vacation, we drank coffee several times with cake / apple strudel ...
In one place the strudel came cold, in another it was dry (barely cut) ....
Towards the end of our vacation, we arrived at a restaurant that looked upscale.
It did appear to be upscale, quite a few of the guests were dressed elegantly (suits, evening dresses, etc.) but it was certainly not expensive.
The coffee was excellent, and the strudel ... just like the strudel should be. Crisp, delicious and with its precise softness.
We loved !!!

Picturesque grand restaurant with live music, delicious authentic Czech food, and delicious desert. I suggest taking the duck and eating their delicious apple strudel.

Terrible terrible service, the worst cakes and expensive prices. I have ordered cake and tea and first of all the waiter was very rude and he brought a tea in around 15 minutes and cake in around 30 minutes. Cake was and i asked for a manager. Waited for around 10 minutes and asked again. The waiter said that the manager is not here and doesn’t know when he/she will be back. Long story short - I don’t recommend this place to anyone.
