I'm always thrilled to accidentally come across historical sites while failing to read a map properly. This was the case with the Powder Tower as it practically slapped me in the face as we came around the street corner and were confronted with it when we thought we were someplace else! An imposing relic of an old era, it's wonderful... More

This beautiful and imposing tower has a distinct architecture and is fascinating to look at. We turned around a corner and were impressed with the first sight of this tower. A must visit.

I really enjoyed looking at this building. As with so much of Prague, there is so uch to look at. What I really loved was how the centuries-old building pairs seemlessly with the Art Nouveau Municiple Hall next door. It's a really odd couple, but the two seem so perfectly matched ... similar types of features at similar elevations. It... More

The tower itself looks magnificent. Even more impressive are the views from the top of the tower. You will regret it if you don't make your way to the top. Some of the best views of Prague await you. Price is only 90 Czech crowns, so about 3,40EUR. Totally worth it!

Great landmark and well worth the visit. Quiet a climb but my husband and daughter said the view were amazing over the city. Unfortunately for me I manage the climb but my vertigo got the better of me and was able to see the view.

simply cannot afford not to visit the tower Tip: Scale to its observation deck in the MORNING for a bright view to the west where the OLD TOWN SQUARE, CHARLES BRIDGE TOWER (NOT THE BRIDGE) AND THE CASTLE CAN BE SEEN nice and bright because if you go there in the afternoon, these buildings would be viewed against the light... Worth a few Korunas to visit the top of the tower. Spiral staircase. Great 360 degree views of Prague, pick a clear day. Take a camera. Brilliant views of the city and surrounding area.

It is a bit of a steep climb but worth it for the very nice views in every direction. Got to see other areas I hadn't noticed from other elevated areas. Lots of history in the Tower as well. It generally not crowded but a must visit!

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighborhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighborhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
