One of Prague's most recognisable symbols, the Church of Our Lady Before Tyn dominates the landscape whichever direction you are looking at the Old Town from. Its darkened stone exterior instills a sense of gothic mystery in whoever beholds it. This mighty (80m high) structure was erected in the late half of the 14th century, in place of a previous... The church looks dark and mysterious, much like out of a fairytale. It has been part of the Old Town Square forever. I think it looks the best at night with the lights shining on the towers. Or with a dusting of snow, Christmas time. Come to think of it, the church looks spectacular in any season in any light.... More

Simply the no. 1 place that you must visit when you are in Prague, and you won't miss it. Sunset time gives you the best photos I personally think. Always busy, good vibe.

Worth a quick peek inside. Look for the arches throught the restaurants to enter. Entrance is free but there is a custodian with tape blocking the entrance who will open with any amount of donation.

This dominates the square and is very nice inside. Not overly decorated like the Baroque style but worth a visit, if you can find the way in!

The entrance is quite hidden. You have to walk toward the church and enter through a shopping arcade. Once there you will find the entrance. Entry is "free" but for a donation the caretaker will open the barrier. Well worth a walk through the magnificent decorations. An enjoyable visit.

Yet another Baroque church, so I don't recommend going out of your way to see. There's so much more to see in Prague, and if you've seen one of the Baroque churches, the others will look quite similar and uninspiring.

The view of this church from the old town square is magnificent but the look inside is even more astonishing. Entrance is not easy to find and you need to ask about opening times as visits are restricted but all these small problems are minor as the reward of the beautiful interior is huge. Lovely classical music concerts are played... More

Awesome are those multiple, dark spires that rule over Old Town Square. At night, it presents a looming spectral presence.

We bought tickets to a classical concert held in the church. The music was great and it was a nice way to spend an hour in the evening. Then, Sunday morning we went back for mass at 9:30am at this church. It was very convenient located just off the Old Town Square. (Another nice what to spend an hour)

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighborhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighborhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
